Does anyone know a source of 1/48th scale figures other than Prieser?

It seems the other scales have more to offer. I'm not quite ready to make my own completely, but feel comfortable modifying ones.

that thread really wasn't much help. I modeled military miniatures for many years and had my turn at railroading and other than Prieser (who's type of plastic I don't like to work with) there isn't much out there. I thought maybe someone stumbled on something out there. That isn't cartoonish.

There was HAT but it seems like everyplace is always "out of stock".  And yes, I agree, most companies stuff looks to be cartoonish.  Be patient, perhaps someone has turned up something.

A few of us have used the tank crew set I think from Tamiya 1/48th.   The poses work well for ships crew.  Only minor modifications.  Should be available on line or most Hobby Shops. Photo shows a couple on my Fair American. Just painted, already in a good pose.  See Helmsman and crew member working on the cannon.

Cornwall Model Ship has 35mm ships crew figures... Sailing ships crew. 35mm works out about right for 1/48-1/50 scale. The figures were reasonably priced too.
