schnu... the workstand is to be made before the the start of building the model ... it should be made so that it fits to the planked model .... Each model has a different workstand ...

Hi...

...there is no some special way of polishing the hull ... first do some grinding, for example with glass, then fill the gaps with putty, then do sanding with sandpaper, with fine one and then with the finest one in the end ...

I thought perhaps, you had a special way of doing the polishing ( then I could learn somthing new ) The Hull looks fantastic

schnu...I remembered something ... :) ... here's a piece of text from MarisStella instruction for building the model ... it's a complete description of the workstand ... it says:

"  Create a stand in which you will hold the model during its realization. Use a flat board as a base, and two flat strips that you should strengthen on it, as a rail to the keel. It is also good to make even the stem carrier and stern post carrier, also of straight strips and strengthen them to the lower, horizontal strips. The whole stand for the realization of the models should be stable and the model on it must stand tightly and set so that the keel and the posts are vertical to the base. This is the only way to work properly. "

pete48...  here is no some special secrets to handle the hull, I described the process ... I think the secret is in the quality of materials ... now we buy this walnut in Italy, it is very good quality wood ... so far we have had problems with poorer material , so we are instructed this part of the text in to the instruction for building (maybe it'll help): it says:

" It rarely happens that, after painting with colorless matte varnish, on wood could appear tiny fibers that protrude and look ugly. If this happens, just re-polish the element and re-spray matte varnish. Fiber will disappear. "

Hi...    Then I polished the middle of the hull ... I planked the visible parts of the bulkheads with planks 0.5 x5mm, I made the frames out of the strip 3x3mm, I made a platform on the bottom ... ! Note that this is not the flooring, but a platform, flooring would be turned vertically to the longitudinal axis. ..

Thank you, eve tho I noticed I didn`t red through your build with enough attention, as in page one you already told how to build the workstand, so I am sorry if I have caused any time loss for the reply you wrote =/. I like how you place those wood strips to simulate the frame of the ship. look good.

Hi... thanks you all...

... schnu, there is no any problem at all, you are welcome... :)

...OK, back to the build ...

...Now is the time to set the upper part of the rail ... following the draft, of course, it should protrude beyond the hull a little bit more than 2mm ... When it is glued, it should be sanded so it protrudes 1.5mm - 2mm outside the hull ...  :

... Then I put the central part of the deck ... It connects the bow and stern and raises the entire structure strength ... I think the strength of the original vessel, of course ...

Hi Maris.

What a fantastic build.

Your designing of model ships is excellent and show your personal skills well.

Makes me want to purchase the kit and make one for myself :)

The detail you are putting into this will make a show piece model.

Antony, Pete, David,    thanks for your comments...

...

After setting up the central part of the deck, I started the deck planking ... Planks with which we fill kits are not the same shade, here I used it to achieve a colorful deck ...

I started the deck planking from the middle to the side of the hull ...

In the original vessel, the deck planks are connected with tar. The line of tar is wide about 0,5 cm. To do that, I taped black paper between each plank. Later, when the deck is polished, it will look like the original ...

Here are a few photos of the planked deck ...  The most demanding parts of the work are done now... Making of the elements on the deck is following now, then mast and sail ...

schnu,  no, there is no special secret ... it's the quality of materials and very sharp tools :)
... I forgot to say before that the planks on the deck are not equally wide at both their ends. Each plank is 5mm wide at one end, and around 3mm wide at the other end... And it's all about the deck ... :)

Pete, thank you very much...
