Can anyone direct me to a source for 1:48 scale cargo winches for a three islander steamship?

Are these winches the same as on the famous victoryships, or do you look for something earlier?

you may want to have a look at Google search for  : "grossmodell Gowerian"

 

it brings you to the site of  www.schiffsmodell.net

The Gowerian is a nice British coaster, shown here in scale 1:50 which Comes very near to your 1:48. The model builder created very nice typical steam driven scratch made cargo winches of the required period

I needed some in 1:48 too, so I designed and 3D-printed them. An anchor windlass too. And the stud link anchor chain.

 

Not having any reliable drawings or images to go by, they had to be figments and overly simplified at that. But good enough for this job, a waterline model on a railroad layout.

 

I do wish I had access to good drawings of such gear, would love to work up some better designs.

These look fantastic. I am looking for STL files of deck and anchor winches for steam coasters so I can print my own, in whatever scale, and indeed any other deck and mast fittings I can find. Is this work something you would be willing to share, please?

I'm a french 3D architectural modeler from Marseille. I say Bravo ! to your 3D created & printed stem cargo winches.

 

I started making a fine 1: 100 ship model (the ship my grandfather sailed between 1932 to 1959 as first stoker-greaser grandfather sailor biography), the mediterranean liner S.S. GOUVERNEUR GENERAL CHANZY, a 1921-1922 built for the french government and the "Générale Transatlantique French Lines Company" by Cammel Laird at the Birkenhead shipyards. I was able to find many parts of old copper fittings on eBay but I couldn't find all of the perfects decks fittings required (hard to find... a very poor fittings choices since 1970-1980 since closed scale model suppliers of their static naval model department). The 1920 windlass of my grandfther boat was a very peculiar one, nearly the same as the 1910 NOMADIC ones with a vertical steam engine on his back but certainly modified at french shipyards with an adding of two steam pipe lines on his head S.S. Gov. Gen. CHANZY peculiar vertical engine windlass. Finally I must create a 3D file to print. I searched some 1:96 steam cargo winches 1920 Liverpool cargo winch for a long time since 2014 and finally found some OO correct metal model ones in 2019 1:100 cargo steam winch but it was an expensive cost (6 items needed). On the other hand I couldn't find the 14 original S.S. Gov. Gen. CHANZY Welin quadrant davits in a 1:100 scale (except in an obscur ukrainian adress) so I model them in 3D file too, as the S.S. Gov. Gen. CHANZY deck lamps. I modeled them for a 3D print but I must find a good metal printer solution now. If you need these deck fitting models, don't hesitate to contact me.
