Hello Dimitris,Kudos for trying this fiberglass method of hull covering, from the sample I understand why your  going this route, who was it that said "your a braver (better)man than I Gunga Din". Nice work on the decks,Well done, will follow.Edwin

Hello Edwin , welcome aboard . The truth is that i was a bit afraid of this method (since this is my second build) , but it proved to be not that hard.I thank you  for your nice words and also for your like.

Hi Dimitris

Great work and a lot of ideas that you are showing on your Amerigo Vespucci, you are showing a great skill of using fiber glass and epoxy . I just love all of your very fine deck detail, ENJOY.

Regards Lawrence

Hi Lawrence, thank you very much for your kind comments and also for your likes. As I said before I am determined to do my best on this kit (at least I will try, due to my limited experience on ship building). The instructions of mantua (In 1/100 scale kit only) have several flaws , so it is a bit of a struggle to understand whats going on . It will take a lot of patience and persistence  in the future... but that's the beauty of shipbuilding i guess... :) :)

Kind Regards

Dimitris

Hello shipmates , i would like to ask for your help on the following matter. The time has come for me to draw the waterline and the black and white strips on Amerigo's hull. I understand how to draw the waterline  since  it is parallel to the keel (i.e using a pencil jig). The black and white strips though seem to follow the deck lines as shown at the plans. Do you think  I should use a pencil jig for these lines also ? In  such a case, should the pencil jig's guide touch-follow the deck's ? I'll be grateful for any help and suggestions.

Kind regards

Dimitris

Hello Dimitris, WOW ,a totally awesome job on the finishing of the hull and porthole lines,To be truthful and as it was your first time you exceeded my expectations using this method, I kept your method for a future use. thanks Edwin

Hello shipmates! Elia thank you for visiting my build log and also for your likes. Mike thank you for your kind and encouragement words and also for your likes.

Edwin I thank you also for your visits to my build log and for nice and encouragement comments. And of course for your likes.

Lawrence thank you for your likes  for visiting my build log and also for your very encouragement and nice words about my work.

Now regarding the painting of the ship I use Vallejo model air with an airbrush. The primer was not Vallejo and on the second white stripe i noticed that the paint did not seem well attached. So i decide to remove the paint and applying a Vallejo surface primer that is surely compatible with Vallejo Paints. Also I noticed that Vallejo primer has more sticky texture. (Just in case to avoid future problems).

Cheers :)

Dimitris
