Hi nighttop You have chosen a great ship - lots of history. I started my Bounty by Billing in 2011 and just got it finished in November. It was a bit challenging at times but was a lot of fun and I am very pleased with the final results, considering it was my first build. You will get all the help you will need rite here . Good luck and have fun. Don

I am now at the point of putting on the master plank - first question - what is the exact purpose of the master plank and second question - should it stick up above the grove in the bulkhead.

Hi Lawrence Thank you very much for the kind words about my build - my Bounty is far from museum quality but it being my first ship model I am very satisfied. I don't know what type of cement that they used to glue the plexyglass, but the front, top and back are all one piece and are bent to shape and the ends are glued on. I will try to find out what cement they used to glue the case. I live in a condo and the executive have asked me if I would put my Bounty on display in the lobby of our building - it will be going on display this weekend !!!

I purchased me Gorch Fock last spring and wanted to finish my Bounty before I got into this build - I got my Bounty under glass last week, so I opened up the boxes of the Gorch Fock and got rite too it. So far I am very impressed with the kit - the lazer cuts are very precise and fit very nice. You noticed I said boxes - the kit came in 2 boxes - It mite have all fit in 1 but there is a lot of stuff so I guess OcCre dicided to pack it in 2 boxes. I have the hull super structure done and am now working on the decking - I find the instructions very good - they are very easy to follow and also incude color pics of the build - so far so good . I hope to have some pics up later today.

Thanks for checking out my build - After doing my Bounty, I am finding the Bluenose a lot easier. I will hopefully keep up my build log as I progress. I now have two builds underway - Last spring I bought the Gorch Fuch by OcRee - I just started it and have the Hull super structure well under way - I haven;t started a build log on it but will in the next couple of days

I now have my display case finished - I had a local plastic shop make it for me and it only cost me $ 140.00. What a bargain - I will be using them again - I made the base with a nice piece of pine and used hemlock for the mouldings - i think it looks pretty good.

I got into building this Bluenose by a very sad situation - my friend who was living in the same condo unit as me was building this Bluenose and was sharing workspace with me - My friend got sick about 1 year ago and was diagnosed with cancer - he had surgery and all was well until about September when he got sick again - he passed away in October and his Bluenose was sitting on his workbench in a partly finished state. I asked his family if they had someone to give his Bluenose too and they said no so I asked if I could take over his build and finish it in his honor. They said they would like that so now I have a Bluenose on my workbench. The hull had not been planked very good and had a lot of filler on it - I had to sand it down to get the bumps and lumps out of it - I got it looking pretty good so I started to paint it and put some detailing on the hull. He had some sort of shellack on the deck so I had to sand it down a bit and then painted it with a sandy coloured paint - it doesn't look to bad to me so that is what the deck will look like.
