Antony, Pete, David, thanks for your comments... ... After setting up the central part of the deck, I started the deck planking ... Planks with which we fill kits are not the same shade, here I used it to achieve a colorful deck ... I started the deck planking from the middle to the side of the hull ... In the original vessel, the deck planks are connected with tar. The line of tar is wide about 0,5 cm. To do that, I taped black paper between each plank. Later, when the deck is polished, it will look like the original ...

Hi... I think you need engraving tool kit, very sharp knives ... you can make it so that you drill holes with a drill first and then cut and sand openings to completion ...

Hi... thanks you all... ... schnu, there is no any problem at all, you are welcome... ...OK, back to the build ... ...Now is the time to set the upper part of the rail ... following the draft, of course, it should protrude beyond the hull a little bit more than 2mm ... When it is glued, it should be sanded so it protrudes 1.5mm - 2mm outside the hull ... :

Hi... Then I polished the middle of the hull ... I planked the visible parts of the bulkheads with planks 0.5 x5mm, I made the frames out of the strip 3x3mm, I made a platform on the bottom ... ! Note that this is not the flooring, but a platform, flooring would be turned vertically to the longitudinal axis. .. ...Here are photos :

schnu...I remembered something ... ... here's a piece of text from MarisStella instruction for building the model ... it's a complete description of the workstand ... it says: " Create a stand in which you will hold the model during its realization. Use a flat board as a base, and two flat strips that you should strengthen on it, as a rail to the keel. It is also good to make even the stem carrier and stern post carrier, also of straight strips and strengthen them to the lower, horizontal strips. The whole stand for the realization of the models should be stable and the model on it must stand tightly and set so that the keel and the posts are vertical to the base. This is the only way to work properly. " pete48... here is no some special secrets to handle the hull, I described the process ... I think the secret is in the quality of materials ... now we buy this walnut in Italy, it is very good quality wood ... so far we have had problems with poorer material , so we are instructed this part of the text in to the instruction for building (maybe it'll help): it says: " It rarely happens that, after painting with colorless matte varnish, on wood could appear tiny fibers that protrude and look ugly. If this happens, just re-polish the element and re-spray matte varnish. Fiber will disappear. "

Tthank you all for the compliments ... schnu... model is to be in a work stand until it is completed, or until it is done so much that can be placed in a display stand,,, in the work stand model must stand solid that you can work all kinds of work: drilling, gluing, etc. ... ... The address of our site is lowermost in my profile ... thanks for asking ... OK ... here are a few more photos ... now the hull is polished and ready for the next phase of work ...

... I could insert a shorter plank in the middle of the hull here, so it would be 100% authentic, but it would be in the colored part, below the waterline and it would not be seen ... I did not want to complicate ...

Hello all... Steve, thanks for the compliments, I'm very glad that you like this project ... this type of vessel is very difficult to build, because of it she is ignored ... There are lot of metal shapes to create ... But above all, this is a real challenge ...I must admit that I really enjoy doing this project...

Hello to all... Thre is something I must say: ... This type of hull is very simple, so it is possible to derive such a planking ... BUT ! It is important to say for the general planking !! : 1.) When the scope of the midship section is significantly higher than the height of the post, then the width of planks on the post would be very small ... To avoid this it is necessary to reduce the number of planks that reach the post... Then, in the middle of the hull, among planks, should be input long inserts, blunt ended ... they are cut into the top neighboring plank and in to the bottom neighboring plank ... Then the number of planks on the middle frame is higher but the number of planks on post ... 2.) When the scope of the midship section is significantly lower than the height of the post, then the width of planks on the post would be very big ... To avoid this it is necessary to increase the number of planks that reach the post... Then, on the post, among planks, should be input short inserts, blunt ended ... they are cut into the top neighboring plank and in to the bottom neighboring plank ... Then the number of planks on the middle frame is lower but the number of planks on post ... ... This is to be done when the complex shape of the hull is present ... ... This is the theory ... In practice, before the planking, it is necessary to consider the detail of the shape of the hull first and to decide what steps will be needed ... Well done planking depends on the good calculation ... ... It is my perception ...

Russ, Jay...thanks for the explanation of the word "spiling" ... specially shaping of the upper edge of each plank to fit the curve of the preceding plank is the basis of the single planking ... it is done here at every plank (except at the starting one, the uppermost) ... And something else : the upper edge of the plank is cone cut so that there is no space (gap) between the planks... And of course, this is done only at the top edge of plank , lower edge of plank is not cut ... Thanasis...When the planking is going to be completed by going down to the keel, it is a way of planking. ...When we talk about a model that's not a mistake, at least not great... Finishing the planking in the middle of the hull is another way of planking. I suppose you could have done so ... Here I have done neither ... Now, here I will start from the keel and connect planks with those set uprights ... Connection will be below the waterline, in the colored part of the hull... Here are the photos, finishing from the keel up ...

Hello everyone and thank you very much once again ... JMaitri, I'm glad that you think that the idea of the CD is okay. My intention is to improve the instructions for building... Thanks for the compliment ... Please, explain what you mean " Are you spiling your plank strakes? ". I do not understand this phrase ...I do not speak English well enough, but ignore that fact in the future communication, I think I manage quite well ... ...Thanasis, text on your nice website confirms my words ...pete48, thanks again ... Now it comes the closing of the planking downwards, and finishing from the bottom to up ... ...Here are photos that shows descending downwards:

Hello everyone ... thank you very much to the likes ... Thanasis, this praise means a lot, especially when it is coming from the ships modeling expert... thank you very much dgbot... When you mention the finished model, I have to tell you something ... before about a week I finished this model and, as far as my time permits, I edit my photos, I do my analysis of the photos that I incorporated into the build log ... After I review and edit a photo, then I publish it here on the site ... I'm trying to find possible errors and remove them ... the build log will be on the CD included in the kits in the future ... In this way I'm trying to show you the exact way of making of these model ... Because I do check every photo I think that it's publishing here before checking is very risky because it is impossible to correct the mistakes after that ... So this is the only possible way and I think it's interesting to you as well as to me. .. I have to thank you for your understanding ... ... I just finished checking the next phase of work ... I think I'll post some photos in a few hours ... best regards dear modelers

Thanks a lot pete48... After this phase, it comes a little more difficult part, it's a single planking of the hull ... ... It is to be pasted the uppermost plank first, it is equally broad throughout its length, and this is 6mm ... Dimension of this plank is 1.5 x6mmm, the other planks that are used are to be produced out of planks 1.5 x5mm ...
