i did something quite audacious or crazy or insane......i had some thin brown stain where the filler became sediment and dropped to the bottom of the jar....i used the thin stain on top to give some texture to the decorations although the sculpting wasn't that deep....but it looked better.....now......i felt the flat blue was too flat and sickly or anemic, so i ended up applying the stain to all the blue background too.....and it gave it more depth and contrast because it made the blue darker and gave it a tiny bit of sheen which may get less over time.......it could have been a disaster, but i think it actually looks better 😁 -

are you going to add any kind of stain, or whatever is used, to accentuate some of the carvings, to give a more 3d effect?.....i never tried this, as i didn't have the confidence to do it well.... -

wow...what a lovely hull...being a shape junkie, that's a nicely formed hull.........ha, even the hull on the victory kits, differ somewhat...... i wasn't happy with the sergal victory hull.. -
being an imitation modeler, for me it's easy...take a piece of wood, cut a rough form, place it on the bow, cut here cut there, place it...cut and place again and again until......ok that feels right....😁.....

looks like the model came with some really decent wood for the outer hull. which, these days is harder to find...good shew..... judging from the immaculate build, it's hard to believe that's a fast job 😄....vc -
just found this..........i'm gonna be sick.......don't know how many lifetimes i have to go through, before i could produce something like that....yikes!....i just can't look at it anymore😄........ here's another elite modeler which i've discovered.... all i can say is thank god for these people who show such respect for life......it's one of the few signs that there's still hope for this world of instant gratification...............

now..... every time i look at your creations, you remind me that......it's ok vic, take your time, you don't have to rush, you don't need it right away, you're not gonna die tomorrow, you're not a failure, don't be terrified of succeeding, don't be afraid of overcoming.....of perfection.....no one will hurt you if you fail.......ha...i had one of those fathers 😉...in other words...thank you for your inspiration, and so positive influence😃....

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
