You've done a lovely job on her Bob, and you should be very proud.

Sorry but I'd be a little leery about letting some guy that doesn't have all his digits, teach me about tools that can cut the ones I have off.

That looks very nice! Your ship as a whole looks fantastic! I really love the look of the deck in the background, and your bowsprit is showing your excellent skills as well!

Your wife is right Denis, you are crazy - - - but, but, but in a very nice and creative way. Stained glass windows on a boat, who would have thunk that

Excellent work on the windows. The netting worked out great.

Real nice pic John. Really shows off that detail. Don't be too intimidated with the latest technology. It's still just a camera, and unless you're into professional photography, a lot of that new stuff, you won't have to mess with.

Thanks for the "likes" and the comments.
Yes.. Admiral's orders are not to be questioned. Then to, part of my Christmas present arrived today, and that re-enforced the following of orders. Happy day is coming... the rest of the present is due in tomorrow.
Please don't give up. I find a bit of patience, a bit of stubbornness, and a willingness to scrap something and start over goes a long way. This really is my first scratch build of a full ship. The Triton was a good learning experience and confidence builder. I'm not perfect but trying.... For the record, this is my second shot at this ship. The first was sent to the breakers yard due to stupidity and not thinking on my part.
Janos,
That's interesting you had problems with pear also. Very strange.
Thanks Paul.. See my answer to Etcher.

GLakie reacted to Omega1234 in Majellan by Omega1234 - FINISHED - 1/200 - Luxury 37 m Motor Yacht - Miniature
Hi Ben
There are two central staircases in the hull, but, you're right, at this scale, they'll be tiny. It may be just as easy to make each deck completely removable from the next. Still undecided, though. Great advice and greatly appreciated.
All the best for Xmas and 2016!
Cheers

GLakie got a reaction from Burroak in IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
I'd add that the Byrnes uses a precisely ground, solid aluminum cylinder for a drum, along with a perfectly aligned, 3/8" thick aluminum plate for a table.

Hi George, yeah, I'm used to cameras with lots of functions, but this is only my second Nikon, so the symbols are different...just a slight learning curve. Like you say, most of this stuff I won't ever use. I never learned all the functions of my last one, but I did get 14 years out of it, and if I hadn't loaned it to a guy it would probably still be ok.

No, not the Yacht Mary. The boat I was suggested to wait on was the stretched Grand Banks idea I was mentioning on the last page. I have definitely learned a lot about model ship building and know plenty more to learn.

Hello J T, it's a Nikon s9900 - about 10,000 times smarter than I am, so I have a learning curve to go through. I'm eventually going to get caught up as I am very behind having to leave again for 2 weeks, but I'm back now and ready to go. Thanks for stopping by.

GLakie reacted to popeye the sailor in Half Moon by popeye the sailor - Billing Boats - 1:40 scale kit
thanks for the kind word and the likes. feels good not having to worry about the boat getting lost in the clutter
thanks Frank.........sadly, no on the Goth.....I still need to access the damage from her latest fall from the shelf a few weeks ago {my doing}
thanks John.........I wanted something unique....and keeping in mind that techniques back then were not as refined as they are now-a-days
thanks Brian........I could go on about the detail I've added......and the fact that some of it came from the Corel kit. the ship's boat was actually plastic.....it got planked over. I think Billing and Corel go hand in hand as far as quality goes.......and in the hands of folks who see more in a kit {like we do}, added detail is an absolute must you and J are a tough act to follow
thanks J.........I think I'm past the half way point........I think?!?! chain plates.....masts, yards, rigging.........yea...it will be a while yet
