  1. I was thinking same thing. Except the hull planks are a bit thicker than the ply. And not sure if I will have enough extra to do it. Gotta think about it some more. Once this snow storm blows past us I will make a trip down river to only brick and mortar hobby shop in valley, if he doesn't have any ply in stock then Plan K may be a solution. (Pun intended 😉)
  2. Nearest one to me is Springfield Mass 2+ hour drive one way, Norwalk CT ( same travel time) or Wilmington DE about 4 hours drive. Great stores but none close by, catalog is only option for them.
  3. That was the first store we went to. Nothing ! Then Home Depot, Lowes, "Wally World", et al.
  4. Well what I feared would happen, and what I have been trying hard to avoid, happened anyway. After successfully heat bending the starboard bulwark pieces (3) to fit, I started bending the port side pieces, except as I was bending the stern piece around the mold I had made the piece snapped about 2 inches from the end. Piece is laser cut from a 5/64 inch thick piece of 2 ply, maybe 3 ply, plywood. Spent the afternoon visiting 5 local stores trying to find a replacement with no luck. 😒 Of course! There is a pandemic ! No one is restocking shelves ! 🙄. So now it's road trip time to a neighboring city to see if I can find a brick and mortar hobby store that has some in stock before I resort to mail order which could take 6 months for the "Express Rider" to deliver it to me. 🤨 🙁☹
  5. Small update : Progress at the speed of a glacier. As you can see from the protruding nails, the two decks are just tacked in place until I can get the guns installed on the lower deck. Next up is installing the bulwark without getting the glued to the decks.
  6. @lmagna Lou did some Google searches and came up with these 3 additional kits in the series. Looks like the kit origin is Ukraine. Have not seen the others offered in any of my online hobby stores, only the 1st in series. All are 1:35 scale.
  7. Don't know the origin. Just a cool looking figure, challenging to paint, not expensive either. So I bought it. He's supposed to be from some futuristic war. Box shows 3 additional figures in series. Update: Lou, here's the back story that appears on the box. I've never heard of this series before but I do like the challenge of painting this figure.
  8. In today's mail came the following goodies So at some future point when I again get bored with the Constellation build I will more choices in the stash. BTW the figure is 1:35 scale about 2 inches tall, should be fun painting him. 🙂 I am back working on the Constellation, I will post updates in that build when I make a little more progress on it.
  9. That is correct. Temps keep swinging from 20s F to mid 40s F (minus 6 C to +7 C). Not even suitable for ice skating.. But we still have Feb and Mar ahead of us. Surprisingly there have been a goodly number of ice rescues of pet dogs falling thru the thin ice on ponds and some lakes, and a few humans too, but a lot of pets needing rescue this winter.
  10. Ah but for us Northern Hemisphere folks it is time for an envigorating sail. Now to just find some hard water 😀🙃
  11. In NY yes, they must be installed in every school bus. Not sure about wearing one tho.
  12. I have their entire miniature tools set. Like you say, not toys, very functional tools
  13. In the Lands of Lake Effect Snow (western NY) there are 2 criteria for closing for snow day, 1.) Windchill or steady air temperature of minus 15 F or lower, or, 2) 12 or more inches of snow . Otherwise school is in session. In my day the school buses had chains on driving wheels.
  14. Yep ! Took 7 feet of snow (over 48 hours) and 12 years before my granddaughter got her only snow day from school.
  15. "Originally, the PT Cruiser was to come out as a Plymouth product. It was originally to be short for "Plymouth Truck" or "Plymouth Transport". It's also a slight abbreviation of the original show car prototypes called the PRONTO Cruiser. When Daimler bought Chrysler .... , they got rid of the Plymouth brand and so the Cruiser was then shuffled into the Chrysler family - to become the "entry level" Chrysler. At that point, it was then changed to mean "Personal Transport"..." The term I have always heard associated with it is "gangsta car" 😉
  16. Yea, I have to be careful they don't accidentally scalp me when I am running around the work area 😊🙃
  17. Here is what I mean by large models Current build In stash previous C130 variant - 25 inches in length over 24 in wingspan same scale as above oh and here's another model, largest scale model plastic aircraft kit ever offered. As you can see, all hanging from rafters in basement collecting dust. And at my rapidly advancing age it is downsize not upside. 😋🤫🤔 But I will find a surprise for all of you. Patience, Grasshoppers !
  18. Don't have to do much digging with my stash. 😒 Biggest problem is the size of the finished model(s). No more display room for them.
  19. Whew ! The two bottles that popped up on the London Whiskey Exchange were £993 plus change per bottle. Redbreast over here runs between $50 and $75 a bottle last time I bought one.
  20. Was not familiar with that label so I Googled it. After looking at the price at The Whiskey Exchange for one bottle,, I picked myself up off the floor and got my heart restarted.
  21. I've done that for priming but not final color. Can you build a jig like the one JAVLIN uses for decalling his plane, like one I copied from him ? You could use it to support the tank while spraying. Mine was done using a simple cordless power drill with Forstner bits (3/8 inch)
  22. That window strip is one continuous decal with clear areas where the windows fall. Very tricky to install, especially going under the wing and getting it aligned. Not sure ! Maybe drop back 40 yards and punt 😁 the Constellation still awaits my return ! So ???
