maaaslo got a reaction from Obormotov in MONTAÑES by Amalio
It seems Montañes is not replying to our questions, simply because he does not understand.
I understand, that english is main, if not the only language, this forum should be written in. But we all are loosing on the language barrier. I propose a split posts: part english, part native language of the builder. That of course only for those who dont speak, read or understand english.

Now, people who have had questions, drop them again. There is a possibility you will get answers.
    Montañes, great work.

I believe that nitrocelluose is laquer resin.  It makes a good sanding sealer because it is hard.  Will check and advise if incorrect.

It is a kind of varnish with a very fast drying, so the wood does not give time to remove the pore. When it dries, it is very soft so it is very easy to polish it later. The final look is very similar to the one that gets the wax with a satin finish that I really like.
There are also tapaporos to water with similar results, but I like nitrocellulosic. Remember that it is not a product designed for the final termination, but it is a preparation prior to varnishing, but I use it as a termination.
    Thank you

maaaslo reacted to Thistle17 in Atlantis by Thistle17 - FINISHED - Robbe
I have run into a problem with the boxwood planking made from purchased sheet goods. I ordered 3/64" (.047) sheet material and ripped the planking. To simulate the original material that came with the Atlantis I cut the 24 inch planks in half. As I began laying the planks I noticed significant variation in thickness of the planks across the 12" length. At first I thought is was the roughness of the ABS hull after I had sanded it down. I finally measured the plank thickness end to end and found as much as 10 thousands variation. I have learned that the vendor does try to control its variation =/- .005. I have been working with the vendor to try and correct this problem.
I now will measure all stock upon receipt and will be the wiser for doing so. The vendor is sending on a new batch of sheet stock for which I am grateful. In the meantime I have a good deal of sanding ahead of me.

Well, mine was only 6mm. Had to build them up. I used spare planking and got it up to roughly 10mm. Its out of scale anyways, but at least now it doesnt look out of place.
