kees de mol reacted to vaddoc in 21 ft Yawl Longboat for a Sixth Rate by vaddoc - FINISHED - Scale 1:10 - Plans from the National Maritime Museum
A quick update. I did tons of work and have nothing to show!

I finished lofting the hull and then realised that although all the lines and frames were fair, I had deviated from the original plans more than I wanted. So I started from scratch again, this time lofting to the waterlines and diagonals rather than the frames. I moved the lines around a bit so that from the beginning they lined the best with the frames as given.

I had a big issue with the bow as the second frame was coming out constantly wrong. Finally, after a week of hard work I fixed the issue and produced a very nice fair hull. It was at that time that I realised that somehow the hull had rotated a bit and the sheer was completely wrong so again I had made a different boat only that this time it was lopsided.

I am pretty traumatised but I think I have enough sanity left for a third attempt.

Hi all, first layer of epoxy-putty is on, and I’ve laid out the equipment I’m going to have to install, and roughly where in the boat it will come.

note the picture is a bit „wavy“ due to panorama mode....!

    from left to right
    battery pack placeholder,
LED Controller for the strip of LEDs that will come above the windows,
Engel Ballast Tank (basically large electric syringe to take water in and pump it out)
40 MHz receiver and electronic leveler
three servos for rudder and front and rear diveplanes
    Ballast tank controller
motor speed controller and magnetic on/off switch
brushless motor with coupler to shaft
    Messing cast prop.

NOTE: In this log I used Photo Bucket to add pictures but after problems with PB all my links to my pictures were blocked. I've replaced most of the dead links with new pictures but that was not always possible. (so there are still some deadlinks and sometimes the sequence is not correct)

In this buildinglog I will present you the build of the Dutch beamtrawler KW88, Pelikaan.
    42,35 x 8,50 x 5,16 mtr
Build in 1999 as the UK 153, Lun Senior, sold in 2007 and named KW88, Pelikaan.
    Motor: 2000HP Deutz

The ship has sumwings and uses an electric pulse system The sumwing are like wings and do not touch the bottom. With electric pulse the fish jumps of the bottom and ends in the net.

I started collecting information, photo's and drawings a few months ago and now I am at the point that I can actually start with the build.
I have a complete set of original drawings and almost 500 photo's

It will take some time before I start building this ship because I want to finish the KW49 first.

First some photo's of the ship.

    As the UK 153

    New registrationnumber
