Four floor board cleats are fine but realize just now that two more are needed, thank you @WizardOfOs.

Transoms shaped and look good to me.

Mast step installed, I cut a scrap piece for the base part that is meant to be solid (as others did).

    Chain plate slots done.

As Druxey said buy an architects scale on eBay. Using full sized measurements, even if not ones you are familiar with, will eliminate a layer of potential error. After awhile you'll pick up this arcane system of measurement pretty quickly. Plus, when working with full sized numbers an alarm bell will go off in your head when your piece is way too small or large based on an errant calculation you made.

Over the weekend, furled the sail, added the topping lift, throat and peak halyards, and a few other things.

It's going to be interesting and tedious building the chain, link by link. Those pins are even smaller than the wheel parts. I hope the count is right.

The custom wire wheel detail set is sold separately by Tamiya at a cost I cannot recall. At the present time, everywhere I've checked are out of stock for this set. Now that I've arrived at the end of my wheel set construction, it was fortunate that I did not lose any of the small pieces such as the nipple parts pictured here. Each wheel has 36 spokes and each spoke requires a nipple, a total of 72 of these almost microscopic pieces needed to complete the assembly. After I got all the way to the end, I found that Tamiya included 1 extra nipple part either by accident or as an extra in case of loss. Loss is highly likely as a part can go flying off the tips of your tweezers like you were playing tiddly winks. If you had carpet flooring, forget about it. You'll never find it. My beef is that even though we pay a premium price for sets like this, they can't even supply an extra half dozen or so in case of loss. It's almost shameful IMO.

    2nd time’s a charm

    Mea Culpa
The alignment jig has a specific mark (highlighted with black marker). The rim has a hole for the valve stem that must align with the jig mark. Same is true for the hub. Somehow my rim moved off the mark which resulted in failure at the end.
Lacing the front wheel should go smoothly I hope.

I spent several hours today assembling the spokes and nipples to the rim only to realize I misaligned the spokes to the rim some way, some how. I have no other choice now but to soak the parts I assembled in acetone to help release the ca glue I used to bond it all together. After cleaning up all the parts, need to start all over again. I think I know where I went wrong and will spend more care to be sure I start in the correct hole. It looked correct for the first half of the build but all turned to cow flop the second half.

It all comes back to my recollection now as to why I stopped construction of this little project: it’s all about lacing the wire wheel spokes. In the top of the photo is a tiny paint tin filled with little machined nipples. These must be slid into holes in the rims to capture each spoke. It takes the patience of Job to get this done. I think I have found my mojo this time.

I owned this O.S. 1.20 twin that I bought from a fellow 2nd hand. After I bought it from him, learned that he had accidentally amputated his thumb when the prop struck it.

I never disassembled one of my twins. I also owned this Saito 2.70 twin.

But I have disassembled, repaired and rebuilt several four stroke singles, Enya's, Saito's and O.S.'s. Valve timing is a thing.

Somewhere back when, I failed to keep progress photos of the frame and engine construction but here is where it stands as of today.

It’s only been seven years since I last worked on it but I plan to resurrect this build to finish it once my Buccaneer (current project) is completed. 😀

Still can't believe it is three years since Keith S prompted me to start my model of Terror which had been in my stash for a year or so, A big thank you goes to Matthew Betts whose building Terror blog enticed me to model her, and Keith S for the many convos especially in the dark days of lockdown one - really appreciated the back and forth Keith.  I still can't decide what to do with the 2nd whaleboat so will leave it off (this might change)!

Thanks everyone for the input, comments, likes and popping in for a view.

    Take care all,

I have sanded, filled and faired the ice channels.  I filled and fine-sanded the hull for a final time - 800 grit..  It's just my OCD wanting nothing to telegraph through to the second planking.  In Bett's book, the ice channels are shaped wood blocks covered  with planking, not built up as the kit is.  The top edges are sharp, not beveled or rounded, so I  have left them that way and planed and sanded the top surface.  Next is to form the space in the channels for the bowstem and install the stem and keel.  I have ordered some thin brass and will attempt to cut and fashion appropriate  chainplates and strops for the shrouds.  I am unsure how exactly these pass over the ice channels or if there are slight indentions for each strop in the channels.  I've got plenty of time to think that through yet.

I started HMS Terror from the OcCre kit after reading the excellent build logs by Clearway, DanielD and KeithS.  I have learned much from them, i am trying to put their great lessons into practice.  after laying the keelson and bulkheads, had a serious warp and a bit of torque which had to be dealt with.  I added blocking and some counter torque while the glue dried on the blocking and I'm pretty satisfied with the result.  I planked the deck, cutting and laying each board and blacking the edges.  I made one mistake.  IF you've built Terror you'll see it.  The diagonal deck planks should be running to the fore, not aft as I did.  Lesson learned - check the plans twice, well only you all will know.  I weathered the deck with a light wash of powdered charcoal, water and just a few drops of wood glue, then a coat of matte polyurethane.  I then marked and drilled the holes for the light lenses and various deck fittings.  I think I am going to drill deck holes and grommets for the davits as some others have done.

If you want to choose one, I like the tassels.
    That's my vote.
Also there seems to be moulding below the counter.

I like the side friezes but the counter looks (to my eye) too fussy.  Even though the model needs cleaning, there appears to be a lighter color extending all the way across the counter.

A delayed birthday gift to the love of my life.
    Her birthday was in February.
This is a non-glue kit from Ugear and it's the second I built.
I truly enjoy the snap together.
The unit got a coat of Wipe-on-poly.

Not as much time for the shop the past few weeks - spring projects, trouble with the house boiler, amongst other things.  Should have more time for the shop in the weeks ahead.  Hoping to wrap this up by the end of May.

Working on completing the mid and aft superstructures.  Same processes used for the fore superstructure.

And beginning to build the sub assemblies for the run up to final assembly.  Ahead is the PE for the catwalks, cranes, etc.

Here is the mid superstructure in the tail vise, with a plastic  piece on the left acting as a caul, to apply pressure on the curved forward end plywood skin.

Next is the mid superstructure with plywood installation around the perimeter complete.

This picture shows applying the 3/16” half round.  A spacer block is used to position the middle piece.

A few of the sub assemblies - 6 pounder gun tubs note the tiny hand wheels, and the deck winch.

Mid and aft superstructures dry fitted.

    Have a great weekend!
