Landrotten Highlander reacted to Siggi52 in HMS Tiger 1747 by Siggi52 - 1:48 - 60 gun ship from NMM plans
Hello,
it is done, the standards for the gun deck are in place and also the scuppers are bored and painted.
As next I would build the beams for the upper gun deck. I would't install them permanent, but I would have as much done at the gun deck as I can, before starting and finishing the outside of the hull.

Landrotten Highlander reacted to archjofo in La Créole 1827 by archjofo - Scale 1/48 - French corvette
In the meantime, not much has happened to the model.
But in this autumnal weather you spend more time inside again.
The futtock shrouds for the mizzen mast have already been prepared. The catharpins are now fixed.
The rear futtock shrouds have been fixed provisionally for the binding.

Landrotten Highlander reacted to Schrader in Byblos by Schrader - FINISHED - 1:32 - Egyptian Seagoing Ship
For the “first” floor I decided to go after a Egyptian shipyard.......
this suppose to be the “original”
It was not found in the Sahure tomb. It was found in a Tomb named “The Mastaba of Ty”. Also from the fifth dynasty. I took the first picture imported it to Autocad scaled it and....boom....
With a carbon paper I copied it in the wall.....
And started the carving process.....
Once I finished (one week later..., or at least I thought I finished.... this is the result
Then the ocre washing process....
Final result!!!! Good so far

Landrotten Highlander reacted to AON in HMS Bellerophon 1786 by AON – scale 1:64 – 74-gun 3rd Rate Man of War - Arrogant-Class
Here are the three sizes of carriages with the four sizes of guns in place.
They fit quite nicely without any fiddling and fudging.
Gundeck: 28 each x 32 Pdrs (9'-6" long cannon)
Upper Deck: 28 each x 18 Pdrs (9'-0" long cannon)
Quarterdeck: 14 each x 9 Pdrs - Short (7'-6" long cannon)
Forecastle: 4 each x 9 Pdrs - Long (8'-6" long cannon)
They have been cleaned up slightly with pliers, scalpel, and a finger nail file.
I am awaiting the delivery of a new set of needle files so I can do a better job of it.

Good evening everyone
thank you for comments and likes
Day 52
well the after 1/2 decks are well on the way to completion, i will have a better idea how to do the larger front ones, but i may leave that for a while and try to ensure i have the skills to start the deck above so that i can see if the storerooms fit

Landrotten Highlander reacted to Kevin in HMS Enterprise by Kevin - CAF - 1/48 - August 2020
good evening everyone
day 51 1/2 deck reworks
i have spent the last day or do getting used to my power tools, at last i am getting confident with them
so on the 4th attempt i have one of the after 1/2 decks that fits the hull and im happy with it
the size is right and the height, however the wood used is not true to scale, but for now im going with it, again 1/2 will be planked, the slightly lower one is still being made, im unsure of the names for these decks, ( i will find out)

Hello,
now I have also the elm-tree pumps ready. I build them after Goodwin's description of the Victory pumps. I think, that these pumps are so old that there is nothing newer in this version than in the middle of the 18. century. It was a little tricky to build these fine parts, but at least it worked.
And here they are in position and ready to pump 😉

Landrotten Highlander reacted to Gaetan Bordeleau in 74-gun ship by Gaetan Bordeleau - 1:24
thank you for enjoying the painting, looking back at it, I would say that this model, about at 1/36 is standing almost in a dangerous position and it is difficult to know if they consider the model ship as a toy or something else?
2 more parts completed, the railings
on the first photo, we can see where the steps are inserted and where the part holding the steps re coming from, This way it is very easy to do as many parallel staircase steps as you want.

Landrotten Highlander reacted to recain in Sopwith F.1 Camel by jablackwell - Model Airways - WOOD
John:
I enjoyed following your construction of the Sopwith Camel. I also built one and it was a challenge for my 84 year-old fingers and eyes. But I got through it pretty well. 160 hours of work. I just wasn't able to hook up the control cables to the stick and rudder pedals but it doesn't show.
I grew up in Salem (NH) and got a Civil Engineering degree at UNH and moved west. Worked for the City of San Diego for 40 years and retired in 1999. Never missed the New Hampshire winters! Over the years I have returned in Octobers to enjoy the beautiful foliage.
Regards,
Bob Cain

Landrotten Highlander reacted to AON in HMS Bellerophon 1786 by AON – scale 1:64 – 74-gun 3rd Rate Man of War - Arrogant-Class
Here it is cleaned up a bit with the short 9 pound cannon mounted.
I had not yet modelled the quoin into the assembly so the barrel is a bit high.
Happily the trunnions mate perfectly to the carriage.
The wood filament PLA material sand quite nicely with regular sand paper.
