  1. Hi Scott,

I have that book too and love looking through it. Like David B I was fortunate enough to visit Dr. Arnold Kriegstein's home to see his collection. Simply amazing models and, as has been said here, all done without power tools. Put's my own ship modeling work to shame... Of course, so do so many great ship modelers on this site.

    Clare

Good morning, Clare. Tell me, if I have a question that can be answered Arnold or Henry Krigshtay, how can I write it? I have a question about the auction in 1974, where they bought one of the first of its models.

  2. I also have this book and as a bonus when the NRG was in San Fransisco we were invited to one of the brothers houses to get a good look at what was in the book.  Every now and then I look at the photos and wish I had some of them in my place.

  3. Good evening everyone. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Project Admiralty Model 70 gun ship of the British Royal Navy in 1722 Barford temporarily suspended. According to reasons beyond me. The customer was faced with circumstances that do not allow him to continue the project. But life can not stop. In the new year, I have the desire to continue the project. This requires a new customer. To complete the project. The model can be completed in two ways. As Admiralty. How spar (in such form as the model represented in Mystic Siaport). If you have a desire to discuss the conditions of the order - I am ready to answer questions. On my Facebook page, you can see some models made by me https://www.facebook.com/Shipmodels.ua/photos/?ref=page_internal

  4. A lot of time is spent figuring out the details. Books help a bit. But almost always something missing. I have to spend a lot of time to think. As many times to view different information. IMG1241jpg_2812472_22502999.jpg    I drew a line on the model body. Different parts of the painted in a different color. Red - something that will be removed.

  5. Hi everyone,

And here are the drawings I created from the Admiralty draughts of HMS Dragon, The Bellona's sister ship (the NMM could not find the Bellona drawings when I ordered these back in the 1990s; I don't know if they ever turned up).

The xerox copies showed that the original 250 year old drawings were quite distorted and therefore not able to be built from. Also I did not know how I would ever fit a 1/4" scale model of a 74 in my house. So I drew these at 3/16", or 1:64. The Admiralty drawings were very schematic, and so I had to develop all of the details from other standard sources.

    Mark

Good morning, Mark. Question. Floor timbers on models end with this line drawing of the ship. What is this line - deadwood? Sincerely Vitaly. Kopiyapost_9846084_22218665.jpg

  6. Good morning, Mark. I have been watching your work. I also build models in the style of the Navy board. I have a question. Maybe you have thought through this question. The photo museum British models they have the same color. Almost always. Yellowish-brown, yellowish-pink, yellowish-cream. But there is always yellow. Regardless of the tree. Can you explain? This means that the models covered by stain? To equalize the color, for example. Sincerely, Vitaly.

  7. Good afternoon, colleagues. I've got a question. I can not find an answer. Maybe someone of you versed in this matter. I'll be glad for your help .  I'm building a model of Burford like Admiralty. What you see in the photo in the subject - it is preparing to build a model of the Admiralty. My question is - Fashion Piese. Ship Photos of the museum models do not provide a clear answer. Maybe someone of you to deal with this issue. I am wondering how this assembly organized on models of British ships. 1665-1720 construction period. It was a time of transition from the flat to a round stern. Those models, photos of which I have attached to the letter. To avoid confusion, I suggest that you choose. Option eh? Or option B? If I am not mistaken, all of these models are part of the collection of the museum in Greenwich ..  1063381584_2498802_22141195.jpg  lar445gejp_6076468_22141222.jpg  2jpg_4711683_22141302.jpg  1099658684_2032809_22141306.jpg  2jpg_2716029_22141318.jpg  larg90ejpg_2503830_22141330.jpg  largejpg_5652285_22141340.jpg  largejpg_6756001_22141352.jpg SLR0376jpg_4855970_22141443.jpg   IMG1159JPG_8988861_22141480.jpg
