    Rigging progress update....

No attempt to describe the rigging sequence here, as Chuck P will be doing a much better job in that area in his continued development of his Cheerful build log.

Following his plan sheets and calling on him for a few clarifications along the way, I have managed to arrive at this point of being approximately 80% rigged.

Next, I will rig the shrouds and begin the hateful task of tying rat lines.
    Then, the yards.... already built.
Then, anchors, and flags, and name plate....
    Then, display base.
Then I have to finish up the little decoy ship.

Much to do yet, but I think I will make it before my December 4th deadline.

I use a charcoal pencil with good results. I actually like that better than a pencil. I've used a sharpie in the past but it seemed the color would seep into the wood and leave a not so crisp line between the planks after sanding.

Thanks Marty and Jim for your comments.  I just realized that it has been over a year since I last posted on my build log.  I took advantage of the rainy weather and worked on the cockpit and locker of my Longboat.

And here is a photo of the parts dryfitted on the Longboat

Glued the letters for name on. I think I got them spaced a little too close together but they are on & I'm not going to undo them.

Attached a few eyebolts & rings

Painted the figurehead. The instructions left it like unpainted wood. I asked Chuck about it & he said it most likely was painted as other figureheads were so this is what I came up with.

    Hello Jessie,
Catching up on your build, man that is some fantastic work. I have an idea that may help you in the future for peeling the backing off those copper strips,  roll some masking ape upon itself, lay the strip down on the table with the copper side down and roll the tape over the plate with your finger. the backing will adhere to the tape and peel off. Try that, I believe it will make things a bit easier.  Love the build so far Jessie, I know you are your own worst critic but I can't see any issues with your build. Have fun.

Hi everyone, especially those who commented and hit the Like button.  Greatly appreciated!

Sorry Carl - you're right.  My problem is that I can't think fast enough and my honesty often gets the best of me!!!!  Oh well...

Anyway, tonight I painted the tender and added a bit more detail.  But alas, no propeller yet! Just saying....

I hope you enjoy these photos.

    Cheers

Hi Mike, Piet, Vaddoc, Lawrence, Frank, Nick, Ben, Igor, Cog and Marty

Many, many thanks for all of your feedback and comments and the Likes. Always greatly appreciated!

Marty-not sure about my next project, but, I'm itching to start something. It maybe Bruce King's "Whitefin", or the replica of the Brittania sailing yacht, or maybe even a catamaran with a fully detailed interior.

So many ideas on my wish list...!

    Cheers
