I will be going in for hip replacement surgery and will be out of the office for a few days. Messages may be left on the nrghomeoffice@gmail.com email, or by phone: 585-968-8111 and I will respond when I get back in the office. Thank you for your patience!

If you have a problem accessing the digital Journal, please contact our office at NRGhomeoffice@gmail.com instead of posting it on MSW. We do not regularly scan MSW for comments or questions about our Journals. If you contact our office, we can try to help you within 48 hours. If you just leave a comment on MSW, it might be weeks before we see that you have a problem. Thank you!

OK, now it makes sense. Your post office turned it over to DHL, so that's why the post office tracking stopped. I had that happen with someone else. The post office considered it a package and DHL considered it a letter and while they decided what it was, it just sat there. Try contacting DHL for information on your package.

We tend to have a lot of problems with Germany's mail. I don't know why. Everything shows up eventually, but sometimes it's a long wait. As of this morning, it is still in Niederaula. Maybe you can try tracking it from your end or contact your post office and see if they can find out what it going on. The tracking number should be on the email that our webstore sent you. If you no longer have that information, let me know and I will send you an email. I don't want to list it here for all the world to see!

Of the first order, I've got no news yet.
Your first order is getting strange. I checked the tracking and as of April 14 it has been in Niederaula, but now it says:
Pre-Shipment
Origin Post is Preparing Shipment
I hope that doesn't mean that they are sending it back to the US!

Thank you for your comments. I will look into getting a cardboard sleeve for future overseas orders. Unfortunately that may raise the shipping cost. I hope we can find a way to compromise and not raise the price any higher!

Hi Peter,
Does your local hobby shop ship items? Maybe some other members from Australia would like to contact them for a copy. The shipping is indeed outrageous from the US to Australia. It's around $35.
People, please PM Peter so we don't fill up the website with questions about the hobby shop. Thanks!

Hi Kauz,
Here is your full tracking information from the time it left our office until today. As you can see, our postal service is not the best. Your package sat in Chicago for5 or 6 days before it finally flew to Germany.

I am very sorry this has happened. I will wait a couple of days before I process your new order - just in case the first order shows up. If it does, let me know right away and I can cancel the second order for you.

Hi Kauz,
We do not ship by DHL, so there must be a mistake in the tracking. I just checked it and here is what it says:
International Transit
Processed through Facility
FRANKFURT/FLUGHAFEN, GERMANY
March 25, 2025, 6:43 am
Hopefully it will be straightened out soon.
Mary
PS - Please send any further inquiries to the NRG office email: nrghomeoffice@gmail.com.
That way I can figure out faster who you are since we have no members named Kauz.

A lot of hand creams and body lotions can do that to print on a glossy surface.
I'm sorry you had to learn that the hard way! 😱

A couple of years ago, we had a member who ordered a flash drive from us. The member lives in North Carolina. I tracked the package heading east, but then it turned back and headed southwest. It got as far as Texas and sat there for a few days. I contacted the post office as soon as I saw it go off course. They finally corrected the direction and the member received it a few days later. Another member who lives in Indiana - less than 40 miles from here, had his order go to Puerto Rico and then come back. I could have driven it to the guy's house! The Post Office is crazy sometimes!

I second the suggestion of a pdf-version for future books. Shipping is twice the price of the book, importtaxes will be around 20% of total costs (book and shipping combined). Even a 25dollar pdf is far cheaper for me than a 13 dollar hard-copy send by Ups…..
Kurt talked with a rep from the publisher's office today, but she didn't know if they were going to have a PDF version eventually or not. Of course sales of the PDF would not benefit the NRG or MSW, since those would be sold directly through the publisher, but if you buy one from them, then you could afford to donate a couple of bucks to MSW, too. 😉

We do have a few digital books in our webstore and we offer a digital subscription to the Journal, our 100 page, quarterly publication. To see a free copy of a digital Journal back issue, you can go to our website to check it out: (https://thenrg.org/journal)
The digital Journal costs only $40 per year and a portion of your membership also helps support MSW
Unfortunately, while we provided most of the articles for this Special Edition Handbook, we are not the publishers of this booklet, so we have no control whether they decide to produce a digital version of it or not. If they do, I suspect it won't be until demand for the print version dies down.

PS - I've noticed that the shipping for two of the handbooks is only about $1.50 more than the shipping for one. If you know someone else who wants one, pool your orders and save!

I had my right hip done 3 years ago. Unfortunately I picked up a virus (I can't think of the name, but it was something similar to MRSA) and it got infected. They had to do a second surgery to remove the infected tissue and I had to wear a wound vac, which just like it's name implies, constantly suctioned the wound to keep bacteria from building up again. I had a physical therapist come to the house because that was easier than having Kurt drive me around with the wound-vac attached. I also had a special nurse come by who cleaned my wound and changed the filters on the wound-vac.
I'm having this hip done by a different surgeon. My first surgeon hadn't done many hip surgeries, but he was recommended to me by my primary physician, so I said OK. My gripe with this surgeon is that I kept telling him something was wrong with the incision (it stank like rotten meat!!), but he kept telling me not to worry and he would check it in two weeks when I went in for my post op appointment. When the puss started pouring out, I called his office and told them I was coming right over! He looked at it and told me to head straight to the hospital. They did surgery that evening to remove the infected tissue and called in an infectious disease specialist who determined what it was and got me on the right antibiotics after the hospital had tried 3 or 4 others.
The surgeon that I am going to this time does over 500 surgeries a year. I keep bumping into some of his other patients and they have nothing but good words for him. I am hoping for much better results this time!
