Hi All,
Bit of an update....
Working on more Aft Superstructure cladding, lots of doors, scuttles and wind shield thingies.
I feel that I can shortly start to assemble this PE and fix it to the Aft Superstructure, finally!! 🙂
There is one more "largish" piece of PE for the uppermost Superstructure tier. (t's one piece formed around the uppermost tier itself.)
This will have to go on fairly early in the piece to prevent fouling the second tier rails, etc.
Also been working on Barbette "Caesar" cladding. This was not too much of an issue but, the cladding needed to be shortened by approx. 1.5mm....
Central Aft Hanger PE assembled and installed, Hagar affixed to uppermost Superstructure tier.
(Note: Superstructure tiers are not glued to each other as yet, this comes some way down the track.)
Before I complete the Superstructure PE, I need to form the AA sighting towers, ladders, doors and railings.
I also have to clad a rear gunnery control thingy.
Hope you are all having a great Christmas!! 🙂
Cheers....HOF.

A few things left to do on her, but she will be finished shortly. With that said, I will start back on the Billings Nordkap and finish it and then if all goes well, on to the Billings Calypso which has been calling my name such as the siren of the seas.

I know you'll take good care of her, OC. But also take care of yourself. I think (can't remember) shingles is contageious or can be.

Evening all, will be doing a wee bit more later but firstly what a day - the admiral has been suffering with a very sore ear and dropped left side of her face drooped eye and mouth, yep we feared that as well (stroke) so after ringing our doctors he rang back and wanted to see her asap, we went to the surgery and he checked he over, he said it wasn't a stroke but after giving her an examination he said she is suffering from Shingles in her ear. He said in an ideal world she would be in hospital but instead he gave her a course of Steroid tabs.
She has certainlt been through the mill of late.
So after making sure she is ok and doing our supper I will do a wee bit more on my Hood.

The humidity laid down a bit here in central Florida allowing me to finish sealing the deck with three coats of resin. A fellow asked how did I sand the deck around the gold trimming, I told him "very carefully". I used a dremel tool with a sanding sleeve to cut down the white caulking strips between the planking because it was a milimeter higher than the planking. I then used 80, 120 and then 220 sand paper to finish sanding the deck. I used 400 grit wet sanding paper to sand inbetween the three coats of resin.

Thanks, that is what I was shooting for, one thing for sure, when it's out on the lake it will be hard to miss especially when the sun is shining because it sparkles like no bodies business hahahahaha. It kind of reminds me of those old choppers and tricked out hotrods from that era.

CDW got a reaction from Canute in Thinking about buying a card model? Here's why eBay is not your best bet . . .
Incredible work.
Over here in the States, ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) would be knocking at the door if they saw those on one's facebook page. They look so real.

Evening all, today was "trying the impossible" time - bending and fitting some conning tower rails, I fitted one of the ladders - that was "easy peazy" but the rails - boy was it difficult as its all ready been mentioned this PE is tissue paper thin and if a fold line is bent to much it breaks off, I am not even attempting to fit a couple of levels up - but think what I have fitted is ok.

My kids bought me a massive steel safe. While the thing weighs hundreds of pounds, I am working on a dedicated space to place it. It's one of those things that will not be "moved around", so will need to be sure it gets placed where it will stay. Unfortunately, this has created another delay in getting back to my model kit builds. While I am happy to have the safe, it has presented an unexpected conundrum for the moment.

There are some new (to me) companies into 1:72 scale aircraft now that will blow your mind. The level of detail is every bit as good or better than 1:48 scale. Some of these company names are: Arma Hobby, AMK, Clear Prop Models, Tan Model. Eduard and Tamiya have some fantastic well detailed model aircraft in 1:72 as well.
In the future, will be building some kits from all these companies.

Back from a glorious week of thanksgiving spent with all my family, just put our kids from New Hampshire on the plane headed for their home this morning at 5:00 AM.
While I was away from modeling for a week, this new kit came in the mail. Flyhawk has made their first entry into model aircraft with the brand new release of the 1:72 scale SBD-3 Dauntless dive bomber. It’s a beautifully molded model in typical high quality Flyhawk fashion. Extremely well detailed, it includes a huge decal sheet and a set of canopy masks.
