Hello everyone and thanks for the appreciation omega 1234 try to do as many but time is my enemy. Continue with work on the superstructure, tinted windows and door access ABS. Everything worked in styrene and sticking with cianocrilat.
That's it for today, still a nice evening.

AntonyUK reacted to kurtvd19 in Foredom rotary tools.....how good are they?
Jim:
I have had one for 15 years or so. Very smooth. 10X better than anything Dremel makes. Not noisy.
Occasional lubricating of the flex shaft drive is needed but it's real easy - lube is in a tube - disconnect from the tool, drop some lube into the flex shaft housing reattach. I have the cc model with the std hand piece. Very happy with it. I don't use it for carving any more as I now have a dental machine for carving but the Foredom is a fine tool. It will go very slow and I have done a lot of trimming with sanding drums of fiberglass and styrene w/o melting the styrene. It can also spin like crazy to hog out wood.

Hi Dave.
WOW spent just over 90 mins reading through your build log for your SOS.
Must say you have the gift. Lowering the gun ports then ripping the sides out.. I would have scraped it.. but you just kept going.
Then to be plagued with ear infections and skin grafting. YOU are amazing.
Like a lot of people have said... you must be crazy to scratch build the SOS. But you have done it
Will follow along with the rest of the build with eyes open wide.
Regards Antony.

Decided i am going to give both of these builds to my grandson. Now they are finished i don't particularly want to keep one, mainly because the fun is in the build for me and once built i lose interest in some builds, and this is one of them
For some reason the grandson doesn't want me to fit the hammock nets on the outer edge, he reckons the builds look better without them, and i don't totally disagree with him so they have been left off as per his instruction
So we will now call these builds finished

AntonyUK reacted to SimonD in Lady Nelson by SimonD - Amati/Victory Models - 1:64 scale - first build
Now things get a bit more interesting. Having got the deck on I found it needed very litle sanding to get it flush with the bulkheads. So, I then fixed the stern counter frames in place. I should have given this more thought. They looked fine, but a dry fit of the bulwark strips revealed that the port side outer frame stood proud of the strip; the starboard side lined up perfectly. So, I pulled it back off (luckily the glue wasn't exactly limpet-like) and refitted it after I put the bulwark strips on.
I then soaked and 'dry fitted' the bulwark strips and held in place with various clips. At the bow, I drilled and inserted a push pin to hold the forward ends' like this:
Once I was happy with the alignment, I ran glue around the underside of the deck and bulwark join. I also glued in the port quarter counter frame. This needed to be tilted back slightly to align with the bulwark as shown here:
All seems well so far, but I have a couple of concerns and would appreciate some guidance.
First, the stern counter frames form straight line to allow the lower part of the counter to fit. However, the upper parts of the frame clearly do not. Does the stern counter have to be curved to fit the lie of the frames (and I assume the frames need to be sanded to a curve)?
Second, the bulwark strips come together at the bow reasonably well, but I assume that they need to be sanded to allow the forward keel section to drop over them. Is this right? (See picture below)
Finally, the bulwark strips have 'hard spots' where they curve round the bulkheads (you can probably see the lack of smooth curve in the picture below). Can I smooth these out with a little judicious sanding?
Many thanks in advance for your patience!
Simon

AntonyUK got a reaction from Erebus and Terror in HMS Victory by AntonyUK - FINISHED - Scale 1:36 - cross-section
Hi Nils.
It's much easer to do on a cross section as you do not have the curves to plate.
Not looked at this build since it was finished.
Thanks for the likes.. I missed seeing these.

Thanks for dropping in mates....including you WW (WackoWolf) hahaha
So good to hear from so many old shipyard friends again. Must say I've really missed you all.
Looking forward to having more leisure time to browse your builds and enjoy catching up on your progress as well.
Anthony....I have to admit, there were times (especially during the big gun port rip-out) when I questioned my own sanity! YAHAHAR
Now, after more than 2,000 hours....and only 1,000 to go....I've finally reached that point where the light is beginning to appear at the end of the tunnel.
If only I could get one of you mates to visit long enough to tie a few hundred clove hitches for me! YUCK!
