Hi Denis. Thanks for the warm welcome back Yes this little model has first priority - Cutty Sark must wait. I have got the sails off the mast and it's probably hard to make them as lifelike but I will do my best Her is a little story about the boat : The model was built according to original drawings in 1:10 by a father who had the idea of building it right 1: 1 to his daughter back in the early 1980s and then they should be followed on the summer holidays in their folk boat and daughter in the junior boat. however, the idea never turned out to be but the father got this model built in 1:10. I bought the model of the son-in-law cheaply in the bought and sold newspaper and wondered whay he could sell it with the moving story. But there are also things to fix. fex. at some point someone has changed at the keel - probably because they have seen the possibility of sailing with the model and found it necessary to get a deeper and heavier keel for the stability. I also suspect the rother to be too short because of the same embrace. just a picture of the sails after I got them off the mast. they are difficult to live up to. but I have to do my best. http://i68.tinypic.com/2eoxks4.jpg

Hello everyone . yes i have put cutty sark on the shelf, but i have got hands in a model of a kdy 15 - junior boat. Denmark's oldest class boat constructed in 1928. kdy stands for Royal Danish Yacht Club. The club was founded on July 3, 1866, and 15 is sail arial. the boat was intended as a school boat for young people in the Danish sailing clubs. for that, it quickly got stuck on the name Junior boat. And in my childhood in the 60's, they were to bee seen in every marina. In the 70's, it was also launched in fiberglass. Today there is a long time between you see them now other and more fashionable boat types have taken over. In 1986 to 1990, I was the owner of one - NR 274 "Beat" built in 1961 for Hvidover sailing club. over 400 of them have been built over time, but today it is "adult" men who sail them according to the pictures that are on the web. The link below is for an enthusiastic junior boat's website http://kdyjunior.dk/?page_id=269&file=SeasonsEnd2012/

Hi Don. It's probably the most exciting building kit I've seen, I did not know it existed. I am totally envious of the high quality and building information - lucky you, I'm looking forward to keeping track of your construction project. Jens

Hi Denis I just point out that the model ship Norden, which you build model of, is not designed to be landed - the many videos that are with boths are some very special and very few. - they are broader than the Norden and are supplied with support wood keel and extra reinforcements at the bottom. Billing boats also have a model of such a vessel that named Bent. ( 5006 coastbot Bent ). The Norden is a plain boat that needs a harbor space like most other ships The winz you discussions that are located at the wheelhouse are for unloading via rops throug the mast and the boom . and for other fishing teknike , and for anker up as well , in other words -- multi purpose function . Cheers Jens

Hi Denis The netting machine is used to put and record bottom net that is put out and rumored the day after . the ship Norden is not the type of cutter that can be landed as seen in one of the videos it is supposed to be in port . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlm2G6O3fTw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2q6FPTECYmE

Hi Tim Thank you for your response, it makes sense that it supports the yarden. I du not think it looks flexible at the bottom. for turning the yard. but then the good thing is that when building a model, things do not hawe to work, just they look right. Cheers Jens- 187 replies

Hi Eduardo the right color is black but it will downplay the details. so it's a compromise to make metal parts stand out- 187 replies

Hi All A little update in the neverending story. I will roughly make all yards and make all the brass rings and fittings before I finally fix the masts - the 9 rings shown on yarde have taken 10 hours to form roughly 1 hour piece Jens- 187 replies

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
