Brilliant work coming together here! I hope those ratlines are coming along. My trick is to fiddle with them at least 10 minutes a day, and eventually they will not be the problem anymore.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who employs a canine technical advisor. Everyone else around here seems to have feline inspectors.

Ab,
Interesting story about the warships that you and Wilma worked on. So besides finding the contract in the archives you also found the information of how the ship was built and what went wrong. Kind of like a diary.
If Wilma found a spec. contract in the Amsterdam archives, I wonder what other contracts the archives have.
Do you build your ships from reading specification contracts? All those archives with all the contracts, gives you lots of choices of what to build.
You don't happen to have plans from that Warship that you are talking about?
I like how you make your cannons from card. Something for me to try. Making the barrels from card would be easier than from either wood or brass.

Thank you so much for the compliment.
Kolderstok is in the process of creating a Fluit. It is the same one as I am building here.

After cutting off excess wood on the little deck and sanding the area, I installed the knees
and lastly the grating floor.

Wauw, just realise its been 2 months since an update. Now I also have been busy building other projects and some holidays. But some progress was made, so here he goes.
I finished the deck planking and did some roping as later on I would not reach the knights head anymore.
During the clamping of the inner planking a clamp spri=ung off. I was uncarefull in placing it so I had to repair the parts carefully. I used sanded dust and diluted glue as I did not want to replace the parts. I was quite succefull i think.
Then I also decided to add the kitchen chimney. A wooden block was made to shape. Then 0.4 copper was used to build it and a edge of 1mm copper to complete the image.

Recently came across this and I'm loving what you're achieving here! I'd like to build a fluyt someday (perhaps after some practice with one of the Kolderstok kits). Can't wait to see more of how this lovely lady takes her shape. The beakhead and head timbers are coming together quite nicely!

Thanks for all the likes and Steven, thanks for the compliment.
Speak of ripping stuff off, after installing all the cheeks I noticed I had forgotten the anchor rope holes. So without removing the bowsprite and the cheeks I removed the little deck, drilled 4 holes with great difficulty, reinstalled everything and need to let dry overnight so I can sand and shape the area.

Beautifully executed. You do excellent work.
I love the lines of this ship. Have to make this one myself one of these days.

Thanks against,

Hans,
In post 152, last picture, the clamps. Self made? Here you can purchase them in 6" (15cm) and up. I have not found anything that small.

What is the name of the Dutch internet modelshop? So I can see the material that you got and compare it to material that I can get here.
Thanks,

Hans,
Finally caught up with your build. Beautifully executed. I've always built merchant ships but for a scratch built warship I will be building this one and as far as I know the book from Otto Blom is the best out there.

Hans,
That is one awesome looking model. Excellent details as well. You are doing a great job putting in all the details.
I have this book from Blom as well. It is a very detailed book with lots of diagrams. This is something I might build in about 10 years from now.
