  1. Wow Piet, congratulations my friend. What a great milestone. The primer was a clue, but the red is the prize. Pop out the Belgian Ale for this one...I'll bend an elbow to ya a little later in the day.....Really fine. Now enough celebration and check out the view from your satelite......the grin is being photographed.....I somehow see mines in your near future....Proost!
  2. I am very saddend to hear about your brother Sherry. My prayers go out to you and your family, may God bless you all....
  3. Ohhhhhh, ooopppsss, I missed that que Augie....you are absolutley right.....Beware the Wrath of Sjors.......kinda like a Star Trek charecter I think.......perhaps The Wrath of Khan.....
  4. Hi Charley, yes the skylight is moving right along. I have the base of it constructed, and tomorrow should be completely framed out. Then I have some detailed areas to build for the "fillers" the final assembly and painting and mounting. Might get lucky and have it finished tomorrow. I'm quite pleased at how it's working out so far. Photos will follow when there is something to see, probably sometime tomorrow, and then when it's finished.
  5. Yes Piet, the skylight. So far it is coming along nicely. The next parts of it can get tricky, so ..... we'll see what happens....
  6. Sounds good Piet. Might be time to break out your engineering skills to figure this one out....might be worth the effort. No pressure from any of us though, we wouldn't do that to you....
  7. That's what we're all here for buddy, to give you s@#$, a quick kick, and get well.....nothing worse than a darn cold in winter.....uccchhhh. now, go have a toddy....Sir!
  8. Hi Popeye, sorry to hear all of this....hope all works out for you Bro.......this too shall pass...needless to say, I've found your infamous log. Looks like fun, I'm pulling up a chair with Sjors and the gang to watch the progress.....thanks for the popcorn guys, I'll pass around some cold beer for the cause...
  9. Popeye, not following.....in front of what? If you are referring to the hole in the deck in front and under the Hurricane House, it is the Skylight which is large. Refer to the Real ship photo's on the last page back.
  10. Oh my Popeye, you must be telling me you're not a former Navy swabee.........yes, it can get a little messy and gooey....you need to be careful with it....keep looking and you'll find it.....
  11. Well, this morning I got some fiddly stuff done to the aft of the Hurricane Roof House, built the ladder and handrail, attached and painted them. I am now I think Officially finished with the Hurricane House, Tiller & Wheel. I'm starting to figure out that some of "white" looking spots in the painting, is actually reflexions from the powerful flash on the camera. If it was't so cold I'd go outside and take a few photos to compare.
  12. Hmmm Popeye I don't seem to find a Holiday Armada in the Scratch.......is that similar to Relative Bearing Grease in the Bosn's Locker????
  13. The wood adds a very nice touch Piet. It also looks like you have the anchor situation under control. Looking at the mine loading operation, it doesn't appear to me that it would be so difficult to add. I guess it could be one of those "easier said than done" items, however from my humble opinion it sure would look nice. Get the Con going, you can always add the mine later.
  14. Hi Popeye, yes, freeze here tonight....I thought I left this stuff up north. This is way too early for snow and freezing weather here. Plano is a suburb of Dallas. My ex brother in law used to live there before moving farther north to Lewisville. Dallas gets way too cold for me. I'm from 300 miles south of Houston near Corpus Christi. Much better weather there. I think it's time to go to the Keys.....came home too soon. The deck is starting to finish off nicely. I'm pleased. Off to the skylight after my ladder. Might take some time to build it....lots of small details... looking forward to it. When are you going to build something else??? I need something to critique......lol
  15. Thanks Augie.....for the confidence.....I have some ideas in mind for building it. I have photos of the real thing, and I really studied it while I was in Mystic. The instructions and plans are pretty vague. My biggest problem will be figuring out the wood strips to keep the proper scale so the details look good. It hopefully will turn out to be a good addition to the Hurricane House. I need to build a ladder and rail for the roof of the Hurricane House first. Admiral duty took precedence today. Not sure if I'll get anything done tonight or not, we might go get some good Mexican Food tonight so being fat, dumb and happy and after a couple of good Dos Equis, I might not get to the shipyard......tomorrow is another day.....
