Thanks to all who hit the like button. I thought I was finished with the masts, however, I have learned that I was not. Thanks to my good friend Lester, who actually worked rigging the Morgan, I learned that the plans are incorrect and that the Futtock Shrouds are to be served. Had I known that prior to the installation they probably would have been easier to do on the Serving Machine rather than by hand. I wasn't sure I could retro them on to the model, however, to my surprise I could. So I began the laborious task of hand serving them. The Mainmast is done, and now for the Fore and Mizzen. I'm still waiting for paint - finally shipped today, so why not - actually I'm glad I did it as I really like how it looks. Thank you Lester.

    Good morning John,

Yes, she is a good looking ship! I hope my finished product does her justice. I think you would enjoy the build.

I'm back form my trip and was happy to see my first order from Chuck's Syren Co has arrived and based on my experience and what I see, it will not be my last order. I'll share this experience in case it's beneficial to others.

On line ordering was simple to follow with no issues. I ordered on Thur Jan 15 and on the same day rec'ed three emails. One was a receipt from paypal, the second was was a confirmation letter and thank you from Chuck with the third being item shipped. Very impressive! The items arrived the following Monday after I left for my trip up north. Arrival in four days is outstanding in my book. I had a couple of minutes this morning to confirm contents matched my order and I took a couple of photos to compare Syren parts vs OEM from my Niagara kit.  In my opinion based on my initial look, the Syren blocks and rope are hands down much better than what was supplied with the kit. I would not hesitate to use the kit supplied items if I had to, but I had options and liked what I purchased. The OEM blocks supplied for the carronades looked a bit rough and too big for me and I did not want to sand them down to try and get a smaller size. I ordered the smallest pear blocks Chuck offered and they will do the job nicely. I used the OEM rope for my ships bell but it does not hang right (I will replace) and I could see I would be fighting that issue on all of the rigging. Chucks rope looks like it will hang more natural and it just plain looks right to me. Below are a few pictures, on the left side of the photos are Syren products with OEM on the right. Hopefully resolution is good enough for you to see and appreciate the difference.

Looking good Rich. Sails are definitely an ambitious project.

That apparently was characteristic of USN brigs and may well have led to a greater-than-normal casualty rate.
Niagara is reported to have 'walked away from' the 'Tall Ship' fleet when she accompanied them on the first leg of their return to Europe one year.  Calm seas and light winds.  She's a thoroughbred.

Thanks for all the likes and kudo's guys, greatly appreciated. Welcome to the newcomers here - welcome aboard. Today is an absolutely gorgeous day here. The temp is 74 degrees, clear and sunny. Big debate to either go outside and enjoy it or stay inside and work on the ship --- The Morgan won, so I got the Mainmast done. Just checked on my paint order, and Model Shipways hasn't even shipped it yet....baaaah! One criticism I have about them is it takes 2-3 days for them to process an order. Must remember to plan ahead. So the masts are done with the exception of the finishing yellow ochre paint scheme hopefully this week, but not so sure. I'll be working on figuring out how to serve the Shrouds, so any advice is welcome as I've never done it before. I have Alexey's Server but need to figure out how to make the right sizes and especially the lengths since they will have a Deadeye on one end...hmm

Thanks for the likes from all that pushed the like button, much appreciated. Hi Tony, haven't seen you in a while, hope all is well with you.

Yesterday and this morning I constructed the Mizzen Mast to break up the monotony of repeating most steps from the Foremast to the Mainmast. I'll do that later today and tomorrow.

Well, today I spent all day in the shipyard....what a concept. I think this is the first full day in almost a year, so now it's back to work before spring and our next trip, so I'm going to try and get a lot done. I finished the Port side Chain Plates and it is definitely one of those situations where practice makes perfect, the more of them I made the better they got..I just hope my first ones aren't too bad, and as time permits, I'll probably address the problems, but not right now. Need to do a little touch up paint yet, but it's presentable. I have to think about where I'm going from here next...hmmm
