    Hej Sjors,

    Really great copper work !!
As for your "edge question", I also might have a tip you can use next time or try out on the rudder.

When I have to bend ”sharp edges on copper plates I use a (steel) ruler and a “sharp knife”.
I cut a line on the plate with the knife and bend the plate on my clamping device very easy into 90 degrees angles.

You might want to try this out and see how it goes with the copper plates ..

Note: Be careful not to bend the metal “back and forth” too many times as it will break easily on the line.
I added a few pictures to illustrate this technique .. (I hope you don’t mind..) just let me know and i will delete them..

I think you goofed Piet........it doesn't look like a proto type anymore.........it's a model    I think you've gone too far!!!!        perhaps a beach diorama might be in order....it looks really sweet!

Hello Dave and thanks for dropping in, it's always a pleasure chatting with you and our other friends here in MSW.  Thank you for your kind words and I guess having fun with what I'm doing kinda shows??
Well, actually version 1.0 was meant to just lay on the display board with the rest of the reject items and spares i still need to make
Oh, I know what you have in mind - - -well, we'll see.  I had something else in mind though but time will tell.

    Cheers,

Mr. Piet, Sir.... You never cease to amaze AND thoroughly entertain us. For a modeler, every trip to your build seems like a walk through an endless candy store.
So, what cha gonna do with that awful looking "prototype" once you turn to building "the real deal"?
I don't even have to tell you what I think you should do with it....do I?

Hello everyone and thank you all for visiting and your like votes, much appreciated.

Well, dinner is done and i watched a fabulous nature show with my dear bride Gwen.  Birds of paradise in New Guinea.
So, now back to the dingy saga, almost finished with version 1.0.  My wife asked me also, version 1.0?  Proto type?  That means version 2.0 is coming up?   Plan to gold plate that one????  She has a wry sense of humor, must be her English blood

Today I made the four oar locks, the bow lifting / mooring ring and started with the oars.  I also painted everything dark grey and it's not looking all that bad.  I want to let the paint dry and then do some fine sanding on the outside and one more coat of paint.  It's amazing how much time goes into such a little boat, especially when it's klinker planked.

Okay, here are a few pics.

These oar locks are made from thin brass sheet and 0.5 mm brass rod.  The strips are about 1.5 mm wide and 5 mm long.  I bend them into a U shape around a 1 mm rod and drilled a 0.5 mm hole in it for the pin.  Then soft-soldered it together and trimmed them.

First I made an eye bolt with a 0.5 mm eye.  Then a ring from 0,5 mm brass rod and looped it into the eye bolt and soft soldered it shut.  It' too crude to my liking and will remake the ring from thinner brass rod.  That's why it's a prototype    I drilled a hole in the bow frame and cemented the eye bolt in.
    Yep, it's klinker planked alright.

Here I have put the oar locks into their little holes so they can swivel when rowing.  They'll be readjusted when the oars are completed for a better fit and appearance.

Here is the dingy with two coats of dark grey paint and two oars.  Okay, I only painted one oar because I was still working on the second one when i decided to paint.  I may have to make the oar blades a little longer and thin the shanks some some.

    Cheers,

Just a quick update.  The cannons have been painted .... and I included the anchors for good measure.

Wound up using 8 coats of my black/blue acrylic followed with a coat of Testor's Clear Flat acrylic.

Now, before anyone goes ballistic on the brass muzzle faces........

.....  About 1 1/2 years ago, I was very impressed with Mobbsie's treatment of the guns for his Agamemnon.  He leaves the entire muzzle section in natural brass as his trademark.  It was my thought that a scaled-back reveal of the brass on just the muzzle face might be attractive, if not true to actual practice.  As it turns out, I find this approach very appealing but the jury is still out until the guns are mounted in the gun ports.

Naturally, I requested Mobbsie's approval on this blatant pilfering of his idea.  He was kind enough to offer his tacit approval.  Yes, there was some discussion about renumeration for certain taxes on tea that apparently were overlooked a while back....but all has been resolved.

Work has already begun on assembly of the gun carraiges.  Hopefully, progress by Thanksgiving!!!

Here is today's update, trying to get some work done on the Morgan, keep my website up to date, and work on my Proxxon Store at the same time....I get confused on which hat I have on. Some work had been done on the Foremast and Mainmast a while back, but not significant enough to discuss yet. The Formast will be stepped at the same time as the Mainmast since the Mainstay (installed at the time of the Anchor Deck constrution) will be fed through the Fairleads on the Foremast and secure to the Main Top. This procedure is done at the same time to insure that the Mainstay is tightly secured.

well Keith........I think you got my 2014 builds in review  already figured out     yup.......that's the rest of them.  I hear you Sjors.....when will you see a finished one.  with how fast the year is winding down to the end...I would say.....none.  but,  I can see it's going to be a very active 2015.  I can't very well say the heck with it,  and finish any of them without all the bells and whistles I planned to put into them.  that wouldn't be any fun at all

thanks to you all for your kind comments and likes.   I will continue to amuse
