I find it interesting that they would store rafts on top of the turrets. Seems they would be more susceptible to damage there.
I don't think it matters where they would stow them, Mark. When you consider the damage done on those ships ... splinters flying everywhere ... if not bomb fragments, parts of the ship would be flying around

That's probably a leftover from the 1600 and after period ships. To avoid men from having the idea safety was an option during battle, and in that time to avoid splinters from a shot up boat to fly over the deck, decimating gunners
NIcely done so far, RGL. "Just" one last tedious effort

I wouldn't have bothered masking to be able to paint canvas. A brush would have done the job just as well IMHO, or am I just lazy ...

Not to shabby mate, she actually starts to look like a vessel with some teeth (missing) ...

Never said camouflage is easy to apply ... even selecting the proper colour isn't easy ...

Nice painting, I found that some tape works better against bleeding than others. Further more a q-tip rubbing the edges helped me to avoid most of the bleeding. Nice painting though

strange dogs they have downundah. The one in front we would call a cat up here ...
13 hours ago, Canute said:Yes, sir. It's just as easy to launch a 3D part as a PE one. I need to do my work in a white room, so when a part goes pinging off into the next dimension, I stand a chance of quickly finding the pieces/part. Luckily,of late, it's been a tad easier, since the basswood & styrene shapes I'm working with are light colored.
You wear a straitjacket too?

3D and PE are very different creatures, Flyhawk does great PE to a point but the complexity is somewhat a different level
Which is why you can build it faster if you use 3D printed parts ... where is the agony and headaches, the joy of loosing parts in the carpet monster's jaws ... the search for the missing "link" ...

Hi all. After a long break for various reasons I intend to begin to update my log for the Riverboat. I have done a little bit more to her since last post about 3 years ago.
I will post more pics soon, and hope that people who were following along are still here.
Sorry for my absence.
Chris
Yupz, still here, and sometimes there ... hope you are doing well, Chris

No oilcanning ..., not that the Roma would have much of it visible (if any), compared to the USN builds

Because the hull has been designed as a waterline but the central deck in also moulded in as well as support structures. When you join the base and the upper works it has a 1mm edge to sit it on. I have had to cut out bits of plastic soni can get my fingers in to try and get it to sit flush.
That's 35 cm!!! A huge ridge if you'd ask me.

Back to your old tricks, ... beating it up. Those for ugly warts around the mast are winches? No 3D, or brass improvements for them?

Effective weapon really, a plane with a crew of 3 or 4 takes out a battleship as opposed to anther battleship in a fleet with thousands of soldiers
Hence , the change to flattops ...

Apparently so, which means it probably had a lot of hull build up
Maybe you can use putty to get that effect ...?

Hmmm, I could look it up in my destroyer book, but am currently abroad. I'll have a look when I am back home.
