cog got a reaction from Canute in Submarine project by RGL - FINISHED - 1/350 - PLASTIC - Type VII, Type 033, USS Growler, HMS Collins, Wuhan Class
Thanks Kevin, but far to expensive. I looked at aussie ebay - since RGL got his at just AU$ 100 - and found a kit in France(!) for a mere 148.00 Euro, and 18.90 postage. Nevertheless, thanks for mentioning it.

I have been looking for that kit, I already bought the hospital ship - Hikawa Maru - but couldn't find this one anymore on fleabay. Lucky man. I bought the 1:700 fo make a diorama at that scale with those two subs I showed in my previous post.

Ah, you sneaky ozzie, a few new builds in one. Curious as to how you do your paint exercise ... what's the goal?

I’ve decided to make a few small submarines as a painting horse exercise. Each kit is about $20, easy to build, usually poor in design and detail.

Plus on those days when nothing seems to be going right, it is easy to find and you only need to flip it over and fill it up a few times.

Some pictures of where I am at the moment. I ended up spraying a thin coat of Mr. Color off white, then added a base coat of some darker gray to the non-linoleum deck sections. I'll probably spray a clear coat on this evening in preparation for the washes, etc., and then I can add the railings and various detail pieces.
Thanks for looking in!

You are quite apt with PE on this scale, Mike. I don't know if I could do it so well. Lovely details, those runners around the stags are always a pain to add even at larger scales.
Concerning your colour question, you could try something like British Off White grey-ish instead of the brownish the British is. Either use a drop of black in white paint, but you might need to much white to compensate. You could use some light/middle grey or greyish-blue to mix with white. I found that most Japanese war ships tend to be some tone of grey, never white. That is my two cents
Again, lovely build, especially since resin is not very forgiving
