Wow, J, what a beautiful build. I love the colors and detail. I especially like the simple, lightweight stand. I think you broke some kind of speed record building this one!

The tape is a good idea, J. I have to remember that one. I like the unevenness of the coffee staining. It looks like the salt staining I get on the canvas duffel bag I keep my diving gear in. I can imagine the same kinds of marks on canvas sails.
When you penciled in your seams, did you have a hard time keeping the cloth from bunching up as you drew the lines?

Hello again, Everyone...
I'm happy to say that the anchors have been constructed and mounted to the hull. I decided to be truly nautical and used bowline knots to secure the anchors to their lines.
Tomorrow I hope to attach the flags and pennants to their respective halyards. My last task ( a very happy one) will take a few photos of the completed model and try and take a short break. Of course the Admiral is lurking in the shadows so I'm sure she will need me from time to time to help her with her Bounty. I think the timing couldn't have been better. Here are some additional photos of today's work.
Best,
Jerry

Well almost complete ! Have to get some primer and black paint for the grappling hook - paint it and install it and I think I am done.

Well, finally making progress. Mast, boom & gaff installed and rigged. Took apart a scrap piece of rail molding and used the posts as supports, used an old wood plague for the base, put a coat of MinWax English Chestnut stain on everything. Mounted the boat temporarily for picture purposes.
Now on to the deadeyes and shrouds.

Steve and Jack, thanks much for your kind remarks, it did go pretty quick. The stand is Chuck's idea he mentions keeping it simple in the build practicum. This is a fun little kit, the sails proved to be more of a challenge then I had anticipated but all's well that ends well. Thanks again guys

Hello everyone,
Well she is finished! All the rigging was completed per the kit practicum, with the exception of adding a second flag halyard on the port side. Rope coils were added in the appropriate places and 4 or the supplied oars placed aboard. I'd originally intended to show two full sails and one either furled or stowed on-board some where, I abandoned that idea as the third sail really blocked a lot of the interior details I'd spent so much time on...So she's running with a main and stay sail and no jib, I think at some time in the history of these little vessels they would have sailed this way.
This was really an enjoyable little kit to build, alot of detail in a small package. Thanks to all that followed along and offered support along the way. Pics follow.

jct reacted to Jerry in HALF MOON By Jerry - FINISHED - Corel Scale - 1:50
Hi everyone..
As I mentioned to J above, there is still work to do on Half Moon besides the rigging. So I did start making coils and attaching them to the various termination points at the belaying pins, cleats, bitts, etc. I still have about 15 or 20 more coils to make and attach but I thought it would be okay to show some pictures of what I have accomplished so far. After the coils I will get to the anchors and for a final act, I will attach the flags to their respective lanyards which still have to be constructed. I hope everyone has a great weekend and many thanks for everyone's constructive criticism and comments in the past; I would still appreciate any additional remarks.
Best,
Jerry

Hello Everyone. Well, all the rigging of Half Moon is completed. There are still the anchors to assemble and mount and last but not least the flags. When all is said and done, I will take some additional pictures of the completed model which should be by the end of the week. Completing this boat now will allow me to put on my teacher hat and help the admiral build her Bounty. Not much to say except that it took me 4 months to build Half Moon compared to about 20 months to complete Victory. Half Moon has some very interesting rigging which I found to be very unique and not ordinary as the rigging on Victory. I have much more to say but will opine when the final pictures are submitted.
Best,
Jerry

Thanks, Glen, for where to find the self-healing mat. I picked one up right away instead of having one shipped like I had to for some tools, and the two lamps (one a magnifier). And thank you to David in England and Lawrence in Canada... it's like encouragement from family as I have been following your builds with Jerry for ages, and J. with the Half-Moon! CPS_Skybolt...I hope the day's problems vanish, since I end the teaching day with 13-14 year olds!
I have spent two hours tonight unwrapping the pieces and matching them to the plans. Then I had fun and frightened Jerry by putting the skeleton together. When I brought it to him, he thought I had glued it together before having him check it. Very funny face!

jct reacted to Jerry in HALF MOON By Jerry - FINISHED - Corel Scale - 1:50
Hello Everyone..
Although I manged to get some decent work in today it was not a very happy day. I made some real bad errors because of the scant room between all the exisitng lines and even managed to accidentally cut one line twice. There's very little room left for fat fingers and even skinny tweezers. So after repairing the mistakes I plowed ahead and finally rigged the lifts and sheets of the Main yard. I had already finished the braces the day before. The fun part there was drilling a hole through the brass lion's head but eventually it was done. Hopefully I'll be able to work on the main brails tomorrow and get onto the rigging of the top yard. Here are some pictures. Hope everyone has a good night.
Best,
Jerry
