The funnel is finally finished, and I've also finished the two aft searchlights. These are fitted, along with the two 20mm guns I made earlier :




 
I also decided to add real louvres to the flat printed ones. They have a real sense of depth now . I made them from strips of 1mm wide card :

The Searchlights on the forward end of the funnel have a protective dome over them which is lowered beneath the platform when they are in use. Here's a pic of the parts for one of them rolled and ready to glue up :

 
These things take on a mind of their own when trying to glue them together, so I made a little jig to hold them steady and at the correct width :

I'm going to have one dome open and the other closed, so I only need to make one Searchlight. Here are the laser-cut parts for two of them :

 
The fit of the laser-cut parts is excellent. Working out the sequence and fit was a bit challenging, there is a plan for them but the line drawing is a bit vague in some places. I managed to get the first light looking something like it should . The mesh grille over the lens is from the PE set :


 
Here are the rest of the pieces glued up and ready to assemble into the finished article :

I also glued on one of the cranes and fitted the PE railings around the funnel. I'll leave the other crane off for now, as it will be in the "working" position and will probably get damaged while I'm working on other things. I'll also give all the railings a straighten-up when the ship's completed, they are fairly easy to knock out of line a bit as you can see in the pic below :

 
Just when I thought I had finished the funnel assembly I realised I still had two more searchlights to make for the aft platform. At least I won't be spending a couple of hours working out the assembly sequence this time .

In my experience a companionway and a ladderway are synonymous. A companionway will always have a ladder.  The skylight is a separate thing entirely; it only provides light to the lower deck.  There is no place for your `companions` to make their `way`below deck.  Zu Mondfeld is wrong.

I absolutely agree with Ulises that two part epoxy is the only way to go. While what jud says is true, I think that, with the small size of the parts involved, the amount of expansion/contraction will be insufficient to disturb the integrity of the glue joint or that the forces involved will be insufficent to cause any significant distortion.
I agree that the traditional method of mixing epoxy, by squeezing out two equal sized puddles of glue and hardener onto a surface and mixing gives rise to significant waste. I picked up the following "toothpick" method from a 1/43 scale car modelling site a few years ago, and found it fantastic at cutting down both waste and mess. It lets you mix up nano amounts of epoxy, with the result that 5ml tubes seem to last forever.
You need a pile of tooth picks, and a decent sized mixing surface, as well as a suitable epoxy - I tend to use a 5 minute epoxy for convenience, although will use a longer set if maximum strength is required.
I place the glue and a single toothpick on one side of the work area, and the hardener and the rest of the toothpicks on the other. Open both tubes, and squeeze gently until glue and hardener fill the nozzles of the tubes. Using the single toothpick scoop out just enough glue out of the nozzle to do the job, and trasfer to the mixing surface. Place both glue and toothpick back, and well away from the hardener. I Ihen dig out the equal amount of hardener from its tube with one of the tothpicks from the pile, and use that toothpick to mix up the adhesive. That tothpick is also used as the applicator. Discard the toothpick with mixed adhesive on it, and you're ready to go again. I recycle the glue toothpick, and use a fresh toothpick from the pile for hardener. Keeping track of the tothpicks is essential - introducing the mixed glue toothpick back into the glue tube, or the glue toothpick into the hardener tube spell disaster.
With a bit of practice, you can easily mix up sub-millimetre drops of glue.

As I said in the last post I'm almost done. The anchor and buoys have been
placed and the flag has been tied to the flag halliard. 
 

 

 
There are four entry way stanchions that need to be turned. Trying to make
them uniform should make for a few extra attempts! LOL

ohhhhhh....you mean Bazooka gum!  shoot....I can get that by the tub full!      I'm mostly a white glue and Ca guy.......just wish I could remember that other cement I used to use {came in a yellow tube}.   there are other glues out there.......I'm so used to what I use {kinda stuck in my ways},  never think to try something else.   
   I had an urge the other day to start measuring out yards for her.........been busy with life things and non related projects,  that it never happened.  all this talk is making me all peckish........versuvient!  I need to get back to this one.....caught myself chew'in on some basswood the other day

I'm thinking it would be easier to pick the ones I don't like.... which is none.   I think they're all great.

This is Chucks flag printed on packaging tissue paper. I has been sprayed with a clear fixative from krylon
and shaped to hang better. It's drying now and will be tied to the flag halliard .
 

 
Oh and you can see I didn't shove everything off my desk before taking the picture!
