Okay, I know I should be packing as we leave first thing on Monday morning, but........

I still had the tools set up, so I ran another "production run" of the 3/16" (4.75mm) blocks, experimenting a bit more with the sheave hole placement.

    Here's the result......

I think these are just about "export" quality, although there are a couple that need to be weeded in the QC process (one right near the centre front for example).

Alright, that's me done in the shipyard until early October.  I will no doubt drop in on a few of your logs over the next month, and I may even post the odd "tourist" pic.

I haven't managed to do a great deal lately - too much "bill-paying work" getting in the way .

I've fitted all the Forecastle deck knees, both Hanging and Lodging. Note that there is no hanging knee on beam #5 as it is directly above the first gunport.

I only need to make the Foremast Partner and the forecastle will be ready for planking :

    Hi ofencer,
thank you for the comments and the link.

24/08/2013 Hello MSW, At last something new to add to my log: I've had a chance to make some progress on Fly during the holidays!   The first planking is now complete and I've added the stern counter pattern. The hull has been sanded and is rather smooth, though it still needs some wood filler corrections before I can start the second planking. And... that's not going to happen before Christmas...

    Forecastle and Quarterdeck Carlings

There are only a few Carlings on both the Forecastle and Quarterdeck, unlike the lower decks. These mainly support such things as Steam Gratings on the Forecastle and the upper Capstan Step, a Companion and a few Scuttles on the Quarterdeck.

    Hardware

The final details of the guns are the various items of hardware - the five Loops for the Training Tackles, the eight Bracket and Transom Bolts, and the two Breeching Ring/eyebolt assemblies.

The breeching rings and eyebolts were the most difficult parts to make, as they are joined together but silver-soldered independently so they actually work. :

A proper update at last.  I got some good progress today, which was very satisfying.  The main halliards are now rigged together with quite a few other bits and pieces, and I have been able to make a start on the lower square yard.  It won't be too long now before she's finished.

Here a few photos showing as she is at the moment - she's starting to look like the lady she is.

And in this one you can just see the square yard horse - the lower square yard isn't attached to the mast, but rather travels on a vertical horse up the fore side of the mast via a thimble on the after side of the yard.  Then horse is the black line you can see running vertically between the yard and the mast.

Thanks very much Sjors, Brian, Pat, Frank, John, Adeline, Adam, Kevin and Patrick - your comments are always appreciated.

Sjors, any time you're "down under' you can certainly drop in .

    Welcome home (again) John .

Adeline - you can order the barrels, but the rest is up to you .

Some pics of the eight completed guns with their rigging. I've also glued in the remaining deck beams :

This weekend I'm taking Vulture to a model show at Port Macquarie - I took her up there twelve months ago and have made considerable progress since then.

Thank you Tony, Brian, Toni, Grant and Alistair.

Brian, the stain was spirit based Wattyl. I've thinned it down even more on the rest of the breech ropes (about 60% turps). The first one can go right down the back under the quarterdeck.

Hi Alistair, good to see you back again. Enjoy the ride .

Here's a couple of pics of a completed gun. I'm going to show them all as "run out" except for Number 3 which will be at full recoil with a train tackle :
