    Thanks and yes, but a lot of material is a bit dated. I don't see much recent activity, makes me wonder if this is still a popular tool?
    I sent an email to DS HQ asking why their forum is broken... no answer yet.

    But I'm wrestling with topics like:
    - The developed hull shape does NOT go through the control points, which are input from the original lines drawing... they just INFLUENCE the shape. Fine except it's not, because the developed form no longer matches the original. There must be a work flow that gets the generated shape closer to the desired form;
    - Deck camber- the "Extrude Curved" tool is supposed to generate a nicely cambered deck, except it doesn't... it's generating garbage for me;
    - You can pop 160 euro for the Pro version which will output the surfaces in IGES format. But what format? A faceted mesh, or a proper smooth surface?  The available exports in the free version just give the faceted mesh, which looks terrible when imported into, say, Fusion360 (as seen below). Unusable.

    The whole reason for me exploring Delftship is its better ability to generate hull shapes, compared to the buggy tools in F360, whadda headache (that area around the sternpost/stern counter is a BEAR to loft). Maybe I should pop for Rhino, $995 ouch.

    I'd like to get help at the official Delftship forum:
    https://forum.delftship.net/
    but it seems broken and/or unused... I can't successfully post there, and most topics and responses are at least weeks old...

    Years ago I attempted to correct the Revell Fire Fighter kit with a load of 3d printed parts. Now I've finally completed a CAD model of FF, and posted it and a bunch of supporting info on GrabCAD for free download.
    No printable parts in the file, but I've created a correct shape for the hull and house, and show where all the "ornaments" are hung:
    https://grabcad.com/library/fire-fighter-fireboat-1

    You can spin the model around using GrabCAD's 3d viewer.

    Or instead of spending hundreds of hours drawing it, spend a few bucks to get them properly scanned and then post them somewhere for posterity.
    It's a shame how many drawings are out there that will never get shared...

    One of the highest achievements of research is the publication of your work.
    I've often been too lazy to share designs--  it seems to take as much work to put one's research into shareable format as it does to build a physical model! But I'm trying to rectify that. I often use CAD to help work out designs and to support the building activity, but I'm also finding it just as rewarding to simply make a CAD model and share that... and the CAD model is much easier to keep the dust off of.

    I'm posting my CAD models for free download at GrabCAD. Other sites are available, but this works for me:
    https://grabcad.com/patrick.matthews-1
    You can go into each model posting to find additional materials, such as photos, documents, and original drawings, as well as the CAD model itself. The site has a 3D viewer that allows you spin the model around for preview, nice.

    So far, I have posted:
    - 1909 San Francisco fireboat
    - 1945 ATSF RR tugboat
    - 1908 USLSS lifeboat

    And now I'm going back and reassembling a mess of a CAD model for my interpretation of "Pilar".

    The 3D CAD model is complete and available for free download from GrabCAD:

    Find the 3D STEP file there, along with reference photos and the original 2D drawings I worked from.

    Another update- the entire PILAR 3D model is now on GrabCAD, along with 2D drawings for the cabin structure. I may be adding more 2D detail drawings, but the underlying geometry is all there now in the 3D STEP file.

    I'm often asked about drawings for my 1:12 scale model of Pilar (Hemingway's boat), and I always reply with my sob story:
    a) I lost the files when I retired and lost access to my work CAD system (true), and
    b) it's as much work to create shareable drawings as it is to build the physical model (true).
    But now I am recovering the CAD model from digital debris I have laying around, and am preparing shareable model files. The first part, the hull framing, is now posted for free download at my GrabCAD page: https://grabcad.com/library/pilar-model-in-1-12-scale-1 The 3D STEP file is there, as well as full (model) size 2D drawings in PDF format. Those print out on ANSI "E" sheets, you need 36" wide paper for that. The images here are reduced! Use the downloadable PDFs instead. Cabin and additional fittings will follow in good time.   The JPGs below are reduced, get the full size PDFs at the GrabCAD page.

    Continuing to add details, including the material appearances which allows for some nice renderings. Much more to do! For example, the couple score of copper air chambers for flotation.
    By the way, that's not a steering wheel on the aft bulkhead- it operates the reversing mechanism, which normally would just be a lever if you were standing next to the engine. The single crank is for starting the engine, while the T-handle crank is the primary steering tool.
    The galvanized air tank below the aft bulkhead gets compressed gas directly from the engine cylinder, and is used to operate the whistle seen on that aft bulkhead. The main fuel tank is the copper object below the forward bulkhead.
    Gunmetal plates riveted through and through the keel members at both ends are used for hauling the boat up the ways.

    Mostly all wood of course, and lots of varnished mahogany, including the dual-diagonal planked hull, just like later and more famous Elcos... it would be pretty.
