Rustyj got a reaction from FrankWouts in Sloop Speedwell 1752 by Rustyj - Syren Ship Model Company - 1:32 Scale - POF Sloop
No not really. From the laser cutting there is a very small, raised area in the notch.
I just lightly sanded it with a fine file to smooth it out.

Thanks Glenn, Just 41 more of the full frames!
As I set a frame on the keel I continue to assemble other frames. I was going to assemble all the frames first, but this way breaks it up a little. Plus, it's nice to see some frames in place.
You will see uneven application of poly on the frame outboard and inboard sides of the frames. I didn't worry about that as they will all be sanded a lot as I fair the model.
Ok now just 39 more full frames to go!

I've been assembling some frames, and they are going well. I just couldn't resist placing first frame (Aa) on the keel.
For the picture I moved the left square to the back of the frame so you can see the how it lines up with the plan.
It's now back where it belongs. Back to assembling more frames!

I'm continuing the char clean up and bagging the frame pieces until assemble.
Below is a set all cleaned and ready for assembly later. The laser cutting is clean and precise.
There are a total of 42 "square" frames to be made up in chapter 1.
Back to scraping and sanding.

Thank you Glenn and Chuck. Also, thanks for the likes!
Sorry for the delay getting back but like a lot of us as we age, we start falling apart and have to be put back together. On the mend and all is good, but work will be slow for the next few weeks. Before I went down for repairs, I completed the deadwood and wedges as well as added all the simulated bolts on the keel.
Over time I will have a lot of sanding and cleaning char in my future.

I've continued to work on the keel. I pulled the parts from the billets and prepped them. Chuck has mentioned that the wood is so thick it's pushing the laser cutting to the extreme. You can see the wedges and how the laser cut tapers. It doesn't cause any issues though. The wedges were assembled, cut to match the plans and added to the lower apron. Next I will be adding the rising wood and working on the deadwood and wedges that go on the deadwood.

Thank you Rick and Ben.
Thank you for that information. One reason I haven't taped them together yet was I was wondering about that but had yet to confirm it.
Thanks again!

Rusty,
Something that you might want to consider with regard to those top timber jig pieces. Not that you are, just don't assume that by clamping them together that the frames automatically square up. They might need to be tweaked a bit with a toothpick or something like that. I know that Chuck did and so did I.

Rustyj reacted to glbarlow in HMS Winchelsea 1764 by glbarlow - FINISHED - 1:48
After a family trip to Costa Rica with my adult sons, our wives and grand children it’s back to building. I left off with a reluctance to add swivel guns to the bollards.
I’ve stayed pretty true to Chuck’s design, so ultimately I added them. They are kinda necessary for balance, the two on the forecastle were lonely.
On to the final chapter, the head works around the bow. More to follow, lots going on in a very small space.

Completed the Aft Bulkhead and installed the QD beams behind it.
You can see I used the laser cut door handles from Chuck, I think they look much nicer than the normal knobs.
Now on to the next Bulkhead.
