  1. go thru this link at comparable ship for the time period you are working on for the flight deck markings. https://www.navsource.org/archives/10/11/11idx.htm
  2. i have 4 of them built out of the box back in the 70's that i'm going to redo in various configurations from ww 2 to the gulf war. take a look at this link. https://archive.org/details/ship-design-drawings?tab=collection&query=uss+missouri
  3. mounted onto the front of the mk 33 directors til the directors were replaced with the mk 37 with the radar mounted on the top. your Missouri, ww2, Korean war or gulf war configuration?
  4. would be kind of hard to put a radar on the top of the director when it had a canvas cover for that area. most radars for that type of director had them mounted on the front face. have a look at this link that shows the aft director without radar in which you can see a crew member sticking out of the open top, back right corner. https://www.navsource.org/archives/02/020526c.jpg
  5. you are welcome. did the model instructions tell you there was radar dishes on the top of the directors?
  6. look at the drawing i had posted, bottom row, 2nd from the left. also look at this link/picture. https://www.navsource.org/archives/02/020503.jpg
  7. the 2 mk 33 directors are in reverse & unlikely those directors had radar dishes on them as Enterprise did not get hers til late 1942-43. Battle of Midway photos do not show any radar on those 2 locations. the platforms with the 2 search lights each should be centered on the center funnel uptake not offset like you have it now. https://www.navsource.org/archives/02/05.htm
  8. so your model will show 2 enclosed 3" gun mounts in front of the island & 2 open 3" gun mounts on sponsons on either side of the stern, correct?
  9. depends on the time period difference between the 2 pictures but the starboard dash line might be hidden by the crew standing at attention.
  10. yes on the white line along the deck edge. go with deck grey as i think dark grey would appear almost black in color.
  11. do a notch on the top of the vertical post not on the side & no notch on the horizontal bar so not to weaken it even with the angled supports added to it. if you have access to a small round file to be used after you roughly carve the notch with a knife.
  12. good idea as i see the orange peel effect on the small right panel & on the flight deck itself.
  13. i have used oven cleaner a few times with pretty good success. what are you using to repaint the panels with, brush, rattle can or airbrush?
  14. it is not as i have dealt with him, helped him in the design of the Nevada class turrets & he is a moderator on another model warship site that i am also on plus others. http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/index.php
  15. go thru this link https://www.navsource.org/archives/10/11/11idx.htm to see if can see any good color shots of the flight deck.
  16. watch this video to put your mind at ease. HMCS Bonaventure - The Pride of Canada’s Fleet
  17. you need to cleanup the top of the starboard elevator hanger opening if you haven't already. the crane base has an overhang on it as you can see a shadow caused by the overhang in the photograph. can you post that photograph again horizontally instead of vertical without the red arrows?
  18. Vertical Surfaces Sea Blue 5-S paint applied without pattern to all vertical surfaces including mast and funnel tops. Horizontal Surfaces Deck Blue 20-B paint. On submarines and aircraft carriers, wooden decks were stained to a color corresponding to Deck Blue 20-B. Canvas Covers Stained to a color corresponding to Deck Blue 20-B. http://www.cv6.org/ship/camo-radar.htm
  19. the lower bow needs to be more curved as per attachment.
