Hi Andy, I hope there will no prblems occur when cutting the gunports.
Now here are some impressions of the first planking. The starboard planking is done, on port side are still some gaps.

Hi All,
I finished lining the gunports today and I will post some pictures once they are trimmed and sanded.
My next project is to plank the stem an keel even though I am going to paint it and copper below the water line I would like some definition of it being planked under the paint, the instructions do call for you to plank the keel using 1 x 6mm walnut strips in a straight sort of pattern. The pic may will explain it better
I have decided to go with the pattern in Longridge's book which I have drawn on the keel and stem
I am using 0.5 x 5mm sapellie from another kit for the planks because I don't think there are not enough walnut planks left over to complete the job and I only have to widen the slots in the frames that support thebeakhead deck by 1mm instead of 2mm
Some pics of the planking follows I will post some more soon.

I think there was a few build logs of this ship on the old MSW.... And we all know what happened....
Interesting idea, dropping the gunport patterns, looks like it should work well for you.

Sorry for not having made myself clear enough. The parts of the mast have to be glued together first. Using a rectangular block of wood could be helpful with the shaping. Here are the six parts:
Here you can see the height of the mast:
BTW, the first planking is done. Next is filling and sanding the hull.
It seems, Amati is very generous with the kit supplied material:
Well, it's not enough for a second Endeavour, but enough for planking the hull of a small vessel.

Hi All,
I have been lining the gunports over the last few days and I hope to finish them tomorrow. They will need a little bit of trimming and a light sand but overall Iam happy with them.
I lined the top and bottom of the ports first and then did the sides, I have 9 more ports to do to finnish them off. some pics follow

Hi Richard,
Your first planking looks excellent very clean and smooth, it doesn't look like any filler will be needed

Hello,
today a huge box came in. When the rigging of my Pickle is done I‘ll start with the America‘s Cup yacht Endeavour.
The 1/35 scale kit includes laser cutted parts for the deck, keel and frames, limewood and mahogany planking material, brass and wooden fittings, photo etched brass details, cloth, plans, instructions in three languages (Italian, French and English).
Endeavour is a 130-foot (40 m) J-class yacht built for the 1934 America's Cup by Camper and Nicholson in Gosport, Portsmouth Harbour, England. She was built for Sir Thomas Sopwith who used his aviation design expertise to ensure the yacht was the most advanced of its day with a steel hull and mast. She was launched in 1934 and won many races in her first season including against the J's Velsheda and Shamrock V. She failed in her America's Cup challenge against the American defender Rainbow but came closer to lifting the cup than any other until Australia II succeeded in 1983.

The box
Frames and keel
Metal parts
Wooden strips for planking and the material for the mast
The deck and the wooden fittings
The building plans
The Amati kit is really impressive. The wooden parts are of good quality, only the sails are not sewn. Anyway, I can‘t wait laying the keel.

This Is my Second Build log ,( First scratch ) . The plan is to build a Muscongus bay sloop with working rudder and retractable centerboard. This may take 2 boats to get me there. I will be starting this build with Keel #3 . There was a lot of research and comparison"s made to the Midwest kit That I built. Keel # 1 & 2 are on the Kit build log (although keel #2 was built just to get the hull planking correct ) . Keel #3 will also have a planked deck (possibly sprung)

Hi Richard,
I have just found this log looks like an interesting build we don't hear much about other countries ships, like Russia, as she was not known as a great sea power at a time when England ruled the waves which is maybe why the kits of the main sea powers of the period are more popular.
You have made a great start and I like how you over came your problem with the precut gunport patterns, very nice fix
I will follow with interest

This Morning I thought about doing some detail to the cockpit of keel 2 . My Wife started calling it the "Blue Boat" a few days ago its starting to catch on (with me anyway)I wanted to add detail under the cockpit floor as well as enclosing the bench seats, after that I went for the fish wells . on Keel 1 I did get the railings stained and made a temp boom rest. Here are the Results
