  1. Is there a way to see all existing tags? I was thinking about how to tag my Lowell Grand Banks Dory. Dory? Grand Banks Dory? etc.
  2. @JacquesCousteau @palmerit I've got some knockoff Legos arriving tomorrow, thanks for the suggestion. @Kenchington The centerline is fine - I just need to make sure the frames are perpendicular to the build board and the boat bottom.
  3. Not sure if I should post questions here, or do a thread, but I’ll start with here. The frame sections are not tight in the slots on the building board, and I’m not sure how to fix that so they are at 90 degrees without gluing them in. Tape? Putty? Suggestions appreciated.
  4. Lifelong modeler and woodworker, about to retire maybe. One of the things on my modeling bucket list is building a serious gunship wooden model. I'm also cognizant of the fact that, if I tried to do one of those as my first project would almost guarantee a rage quit. Instead, I'm going to work through several smaller kits first, beginning with Model Shipways Grand Banks dory. If you are a degenerate football (American) fan as I am, there are going to be many hours watching NFL and NCAA games. I find it very conducive to modelling, as you only have to look up for 6-8 seconds, then do some building between plays and during commercial breaks. I've cleared all the tools that are Gundam/plastic model specific and am ready to get started.
  5. If you're new to Gundam modeling, these are all strictly snap - no glue is needed. They are engineering marvels. This video is using the actual parts (rendered) showing how they go together. It's gorgeous.
  6. She's got legs! I've got to repaint a couple of waist pieces, and decal everything, but the end is in sight.
  7. This is coming together so well. Doing a super-detailed plastic kit like this is on my bucket list, thanks for the inspiration. Also, while there are many things I dislike about this timeline, the fact that I can tell my browser to translate everything, and it works well, makes me happy.
  8. Finished panel lining everything, now it's just assembly and decals, with maybe a tiny bit of detail paint at the end.
  9. The Zaku variants are my favorites, followed by Federation grunt suits (Jesta, etc.). I have a few of the RX-78 variants, including a PG, but the Zeon stuff is prettier IMO. For a first kit, just grab an HG or an SD, don't worry about paint, just sand the nub marks and build. I use the SD to test paint schemes all the time because they can built in a couple of hours. For me, the MG is the sweet spot for size and detail.
  10. That looks like something tacky that would be sold in a museum gift shop. And not for two large.
  11. I'm a lifelong plastic modeler who discovered gunpla a few years ago. If you've never built one, they are marvels of engineering, requiring no glue to assemble. This is a Gundam Base exclusive version of the Lunamaria Zaku. I'm doing a custom paint job using primarily lacquer paints from Tropical Glitz (Pinkalicious, Luscious Purple, Galactic Silver and 24K Gold), with the white parts being Hot Rod Sparkle from Createx. The parts get removed from the runners, grouped by sprue, nub marks sanded smooth, then off to the paint room, where I try hard not to mix them up so I can find the parts later.
  12. If you are milling or sanding resin, please use dust collection and a mask, the dust is toxic.
  13. That mast adds a whole new level of difficulty to 'where am I displaying this' The build is looking great.
  14. The first sans serif font appeared in 1816. So yeah, serifs would be much more likely IMO.
  15. This ship is one of my favorites just on looks. And I'd love the schematics and code for the Arduino, that's such a great job.
  16. The Tormek is such a great system. I use it for everything from chisels to kitchen knives.
  17. Waaaaaaaagh! Nice job.
