  2. yes started a while ago 7 now its time to start on the hard stuff. not sure if I can do this as eyes are not what they used to be & I have sausage fingers

    . Makes you wonder why

  3. 1. starting on rigging, fairly new to this type of modeling. with a 3 masted model is the starting procedure to step mast ( main ,fore or mizzen or to step each one individually & rig this until complete, or step all 3 & rig each. 2. is it better to rig rat line & then standing rigging or what would you recommend.. 3. lastly I think it should work from the inside to outboard standing rigging or is there a better way 4. any suggestions you have would be of immense help... thanks in advance Sailor Jim
  4. easy question: new @ rigging. Do you have to treat thread with anything before actual work begins. Use to be beeswax but not hearing if this still applies Thanks Jim
  5. Hi Jeff Great job on Victory Bow Sect. Attention to detail is over the top. Thanks for all the posts. Sailor Jim
  6. New to rigging!!! Thread provided w/kit is kind of ratty but do not have a clue as to which sizes to use for what ! seems like the should be a specific Dia. (MM) for shrouds, ratlines, standing rigging etc. also is it still policy to use beeswax. Not sure where to buy & how much is req'd Lots of questions, hoping for some answers. Thanks in advance. Model is 64 scale.
  7. could use some help regarding size of ratlines (verticle & horizontal) in MM on a 1/64 scale Rattlesnake mamoli Thanks guys in advance
  8. regarding Black Brass, you guys were right on. Used it straight & tiny parts were the easiest. Cannons took a little more but came out good also. Stuff is really great. Wonder if it keeps for any length of time? Jim
  9. Anybody ever use Brass Black? The bottle states brush it on but I want to do all the brass pcs (ex. cannons, eyelets, misc. tiny pcs.) The directions do not say how to dunk multi pieces all together. Is it mixed with any other solutions or use it straight? Thanks guys Jim
  10. Thanks to all for the reply. I did soak pcs. in white vinegar & possibly not longb enough. Think I shall try the majority of opinions & try the Casey black stuff. Pays to ask questions. JIM
  11. Tried Liver of Sulphur as directed. Went on a few sites & this stuff seemed to be the right stuff. It wasn't!!! Worked great on a piece of flat stock, that I do not think was all brass, Said to myself this stuff is great. Tried the cannons & some other fittings . NOTHING. I know they have blacking that everyone says works but the company is not selling it anymore. Any Suggestions?
  12. Hey Guys: Yes that is the Russian Federation fronting for a Chinese company. No, I have not considered buying one, only interested in some feedback from as to the folks who are up on these things. Thanks everyone> Jim
  13. Has anyone purchased or built one of the kits from Russia? Just wondering if the materials & plans are good or not understandable as a majority of other kitmakers from other countries are. Thanks
  14. Hi Robbyn ;Saw your build log on the San Fransisco, this will be my next (2nd) build. I see you changed the kit to a 1st & 2nd planking from only a single planked hull. Just wondering how you did this. Was it just allowing for the thickness of the 2 plank & sanding the frames to allow for the additional thickness? In any event before I start on my own a little advice for someone who has done it before me would be great. As someone who is really new @ this hobby, I have to say I`m hooked to say the least. Hope your next build looks as great as your current one Thanks Jim
  15. Looking for opinions of Latina's Sanfrancisco II. This would be my 2nd build(1st was Swift 1805) The Swift went well and now I would like to try something a bit more involved. Any opinions on the build & the the kit would be most appriciated. Thanks in advance Jim
