    Hi,
Unfortunately, my body must have been in trouble as the new year began because, suffice it to say, I had to lay off ship modelling for a couple of months due to one or more infirmities.  But this old guy wasn't about to give up and as soon as as I was able to, I once again began working on La Nina:
    April 22, 2017 through April 27th....

    Hello Robert..
I had no idea that you have started to build Victory and happily i came across your log this morning.  I see that my friends Glenn and David have been paying regular visits to your site and have been watching your progress.  You have two excellent tutors communicating with you but I thought you'd like to also hear from someone on the other side of the pond.  From what I see you are doing a very good job so far and I know you will end up with a beautiful model aas David did and Glenn will.  I'm happy to see that David advised you to drill the two pedestal holes for that is something I didn't do so as you may see from my build log, I ended up standing my Victory on a small cradle.  There are other aspects to your build that I really like including painting the framework black.  This was an afterthought for me and of course was  more difficult when I did it later in the build.  Please include me on your list of followers and feel free to contact me any time I may be of help.  Good luck and best to you,

Jerry got a reaction from coxswain in BLUENOSE By Jerry - Model Shipways - Scale 1:64
    Hello Everyone..

Well, today is the day that for all practical purpose, my "Bluenose" has been completed.  I still need to mount her on a base, run up the Canadian flag and encase her in a display case.  I didn't attach the flag because frankly I don't like the one that came with the kit.  It looks like it has a perpetual erection and certainly doesn't look like it will hang naturally.  So, I'll look around and see what I can find in the next few weeks.  The display case will take some time to arrive and I'm still not sure how I want to mount the model to the base.  She is surprisingly light; I don't think she weighs more than a pound and a half,  so I may stand her on a pair of 2 mm brass wires glued into a finished base.  There's a lot to be said about this kit but I think I'll spare Model Shipways my thoughts so as to not embarrass them and most importantly...myself.  This project took a little more than five months and it would have been quicker than that if I didn't go through the problems with my sight.  So this won't be my last posting but it will probably be a little while before my next one which will wrap up the project.

I have several more photos which I shall post and unfortunately the ones of the full shot of the ship are not very good due to bad contrast.  A white background hides the natural rigging lines and a dark background eliminates the black lines.  I tried placing the ship on the table in front of my black faced TV set to bring out the natural rigging but as you shall see,  the reflections ruined that.

Here is the last group of pictures I have and when the ship totallt completed I'll post a few more to finalize this log.

I wish everyone a very happy evening.
    Best,
    Jerry

    Hello again Popeye...

What a sweet reply for which I sincerely thank you.

Now don't get me wrong, I moved to Florida from the 'sticks."  Before I lived in Naples I lived on a small farm outside of Fayetteville Arkansas.  This was the country indeed. All the things you mentioned, dirt roads.. logging roads, etc.. We  bought 38 acres of land and built it up from nothing.  We built our home, our barn, our pastures, our corral and a nice pond.  I must admit i enjoyed riding the tractor every day; it was a lot of fun...We had a couple of young horses to break in, 10 calves, 2 dogs and 2 cats.  Oh yeah...and plenty of bumpy roads.  The "nuts" part mainly refers to the fact that in the new environment sweaters and jackets will be back in vogue.  That,  along with uprooting an old man with all his belongings.  I appreciate your envy and I suppose in the long run walking to my little boat every day will give me time to recall the happy happenings of my past and if that walking time isn't enough I'm sure the time with spinning rod in hand will provide any memories I may have missed.  What bothers me most is the thought of packing for the move. Charlene, God love her, has said not to worry about that 'cause she'd take care of everything...and you now what, she will!  So, the current house been up for sale for the past two days and now we'll see what happens.  Oh yeah, don't envy us, come and see us.

    Have a great weekend.

    Hello Popeye...
We just listed our house today.  We are planning to move to the north-west corner of South Carolina to a place called, Keowee Lake.  (Google Keowee Lake, S.C.  )
Charlene and I visited there about 10 days ago and we were very impressed.  The winters, although not tropical as where we live now, are very mild.  When we were there, Feb 3-6 the afternoon temperatures were in the mid 60's to 70's F.  We will be living next to the lake and anticipate buying a small pontoon boat so we can go fishing the rest of my life.  One can go boating and fish year round as the lake never freezes.  Charlene really wants a change in environment, one with  lakes, hills and plenty of trees.  As she puts it,  "I want to drive over bumpy roads."  She's Nuts...
I may even try to build another ship model.  Charlene once again has forked over her Nina to me and asked me to finish it.  I may do that and I may not.
I hope you are well and offer my best regards,

    Jerry
