  1. Wow that really is fantastic! Would love to build a fully framed ship, but don’t have the skills to scratch build. If I take the plunge this is the way to go.
  2. https://www.scalemates.com/products/img/3/1/1/192311-23-instructions.pdf
  3. Dave, Looking good. I know what you mean re instructions. The Amati/Victory instructions are better than most. The instructions for HMS Diana from Caldercraft are really difficult to follow. You should check out Vanguard’s manuals - plenty of pictures as well as plans. Chris Watton has really set a high bar. Once you have a couple of builds under your belt the instructions become more of a guide.
  4. What brand of glue are you using? I usually buy veloset from a hobby shop in Edinburgh, but wonder if a commercial brand would be better value.
  5. You are flying along Andrew. At this rate it will be finished before Christmas. My kits arrived yesterday and Mrs M immediately hid them for Christmas🎅 Looking forward to seeing how straight forward the planking is. Your daughter has it right - everyone knows red ones are faster!
  6. The plan does show the underneath of the and I does not look as if coppered. I coppered mine but tbh you cannot see it!
  7. Excellent job Bug. I like the foil on the keel edges. I cut the plates to size, however your method looks to give a better result. Think I’ll give that a try the next time.
  8. Andrew, luckily (?) I am working from home so will be here all week as they say. PS Obviously I am not waiting on a car, autocorrect 🤔.
  9. I am pulling up the proverbial chair. Ordered both Erycina and Nisha, should have been here today, but UPS changed its mind and the kits are back at the depot 😡 mind you I am not allowed to start them anyway - Santa will be holding them until the 25th.
  10. The shackle for holding the fishdavit. The only reason I know is my Granado has them fitted. As much as I would like to claim the dram, it is a bit far. I’ll raise a glass of Talisker to you, Slainte!
  11. Well that’s 2022 planned: build two fishing boats and save for a big frigate. Now how to tell the Admiral that DIANA is going in the stash……
  12. Lovely vessel. Never thought I would say that of a ship without cannon. I have a feeling that this kit may seduce you into building quickly. Need to take a deep breath and just enjoy a leisurely build.
  13. Ah as it was straight after my post I thought it related to that, hence my confusion mind you I am easily confused these days
  14. https://vigilanceofbrixham.co.uk I have seen her a few times when on holiday in the West Country, but have only just realised it might be the same type as your lovely Erycina
  15. It is a liquid polish that acts as a sort of varnish. Once set it is quite hard. As terry says it is widely used by aircraft modellers. I use it myself. It is vEry good at protecting the clear parts for CA fogging. Personally I use a paint range that has a high gloss factor that means that I don't use it for decals. In the UK the formula and name changed much to the consternation of the modelling community as it no longer did what it used to! I have heard of people buying it to stockpile And to actually answer your question once dry decals will readily stick to it. I guess you could paint over it but most use it as a varnish so it is a final coat
  16. Hi Glad to read that you are getting some building done. You might want to consider lining the gun ports to get them square and all the same size. I like the painted brass - I left mine as is but wished I had practiced painting ahead of the stern of the Granado Keep the pictures coming
