JanV got a reaction from NAZGÛL in Wasa 1628 by JanV - Corel - scale 1:75 - Vasa
the above described methode was not correct
I have redone this using an flexible wood in small strips
as I felt very good with this methode, I will now continue with the other 5 platforms -

Thanks Frank - no I do not have the book. Either a copy or sketch would be fine. I may get the rigging book by Fred at the museum when it comes out later in the year.

Thanks guys.
Hlipplaa, sorry I must have missed your question, I used holy for planking and castello for the other details for the cutter and the longboat.
So here's how the story goes, the officer of the marines chased off the annoying rat that has been lurking in my ship's hold for the past years. Meanwhile Paddy the calico ship's cat indulged himself on the remaining mice on the ship and fell asleep on the marine offices bed place.

I tried to fix the bite mark with some water Druxey, but unfortunately it's to deep and wide. I can fix it with some colored wax or, we make up a good story how the musket was discharged and hit the riding bitt. I'm with Mark here let's blame the rat
Piet one's enough!
So here's all painted, blackened and assembled. The wood turned out a little darker than I would have liked, but it will go nicely with all the other mini projects like the wicker basket, cutlery, etc to show off the model.

Hi Mates,
A small update. Finally working on the carriage pulleys and ropes. What I thought would be monotonous has in fact been fun. I worked out, I think, a way of attaching the double pulleys to the weather deck in the same fashion as seen on the Vasa museum carriage reconstruction. I will work with bits of toothpick ends to fashion the braces.
Kudos to Syrene for Chucks excellent ropes and pulleys (:-)
Thanks so much for all of the "likes"as I slowly move forward......
Regards,
Michael

Hello all. another little update - fore & main yards mounted & rigged except for the braces - they will be last. Tried to get pictures with a dark background so the light rigging shows up better. The running rigging is a little too light colored but I am not going to re-do it.

I now started to build the "Fish-Davit" that was used to help raise the flukes of the anchors. According to Landstrom's book, Vasa's fish davit was recovered. It was 230 inches long by 9.45 inches high by 10.6 inches wide. Also, according to Landstrom, each end of the davit was the same so it could be used on either side of the ship. So my thinking is that I will show my model with the davit on the starboard side and attach the anchor as if it is being raised with the help of the davit and I will show the anchor on the port side in the final stowed position.
The finished davit scaled down 1:75 made of walnut
Cutout of angled rectangle hole on both starboard and port side
Positioning of davit on starboard side
Opposite end wrapped and tied thru holes in deck
Thanks for the "likes" on my previous post!

JanV got a reaction from md1400cs in Vasa by Karleop - FINISHED – Billing Boats – reviving a poorly built model
For the Corel the instructions are also very poor. The rigging plan however seems to be better. But to be sure we have to wait for the updated drawings from the museum( expexted end of this year)
