I feel better. I posted a plea for help a few days ago and then left town on business. I could read emails (as in notifications of replies) but received none. I finally went back and... there was no plea.  I suppose I did all kind of editing and photo insertion and forgot to press the post button as well.

    Bob, Popeye, Russ,

Thanks for stopping by.  I totally agree with you with you that with discreet photos, no one would know where the oop’s are.

When I started this build (over two months ago) I had no idea how to make all the changes I had planned. But I just kept on reading and studying other build logs, asked questions and some trial and error.  I really like these Midwest boats and have learned a lot while researching them.

This build is turning out much better than I thought it would and I’m happy with it!  I’m adding some of the oop’s to help anyone who may want to do the same.

I do have plans to build another MBLS and make all the changes / improvements that I have mentioned so far and a few more.  I’m looking forward to that build and have been shopping for various materials I'll need!

    Thanks again for stopping by

Hahaha.  I just like tradition.  Struggle=success (and builds character).  I have 2 of those needle threaders ...... never use 'em.

If you had not pointed out the things you don't like everyone would be saying, " Wow, what a nice boat."

ohhhhhh!.......I see your point     the bad thing about balsa,  is that it's quite prone to dings and nicks.   yours is the first I've heard that used it in hull planking.......it is also quite flexable.   with my lobster boat,  they supply balsa panels for the planking.  not being used to this,  I made a holy 'ole mess of it.......so I planked it over........made for a great base,  it did!   another beauty of this wood,  is you really didn't add a whole lot of weight to the build.......could be a problem,  in the armor department though.  so,  you should be quick with the second planking or  'he who shall not be named'  and his cotton balls,  will make a mess of things........I'm surprised he didn't scope you out already  :0  LOL!!!

popeye the sailor reacted to Piet in Hr. Ms. O 19 1938 by Piet - FINISHED - scale 1:50 - submarine of the Royal Navy Netherlands in service 1939 - 1945
Well, today was going to be the day for doing the Dacron cover with epoxy resin but - - - dummy me, I forgot to buy latex gloves.  That stuff irritates my hands now and I don't like to suffer for two weeks.
So, I did some work on the VOC ship.  I made seven pairs of gunport hinges, that's 7 out of 32.
Will be going to the store tomorrow for the gloves and some wood for the O 19 deck structure.

But, I extracted a copy of the interior view of the O 19 from my files with some of the areas identified in English.  I thought yuns would like to see how this sub looks like inside.
Hey Kevin, any resemblance with the boat you served on, besides the mine storage areas that is?

The first drawing is a JPG file I received from my friend Gino den Ridder.  I would have preferred to attach the PDF file it is much to large for here but is clearer.  Gino is the assistant curator for the USS Cod that rescued the crew from the O 19 when it ran onto Ladd Reef July, 1945.  The USS Cod is in Cleveland, OH as a museum piece and is fortunately not butchered up with a cut in the pressure hull for stairs to go below.  I'm looking forward visiting the USS Cod and the promised grand tour.

This shows the entire boat.  The following 6 pictures are enlarged screen shots from the different areas, starting with the stern.

nawww.......it's the other way around.....LOL!  I'm just kidding though.  but,  I am close towards getting back to the Goth.  got a few other aspects I want to get on the deck,  and a bit more moldings for the stern........then I can work on the masting.   lots of planking on the Half Moon,  so that will definitely break the tension.   I'll look forward to seeing some progress on your build......but please do it when you feel absolutely ready.

More or less done with the yards i'll probably glue the foot ropes to get a better shape. The spirit sail yard was a balls up on the plan. The size, location and number of blocks was wrong only by looking at the last plan sheet  could i figure out what i was supposed to do.Lucky i have all of Frank's photo's as back up,i can't thank you enough Frank for doing the Supply.Time now to see if i have the other yards set up o.k.
