Today, I started with  the shaping ( rounding off )  the toe and rub rails. I then sanded them up to 600 grit sandpaper. ( starting with 220 and working my way up to 600 ) I then applied the first coat of varnish to the rub and toe rails along with the rudder blade. I then applied a thin coat of varnish to the Hull to fill the in blend line. Next will be to lightly sand with 600 grit sand paper and add the next coat of varnish, and to start making the Spars ( Mast and Boom ) Here are the results

    pete48 got a reaction from popeye the sailor in Haven 12 1/2' by pete48 - 1" = 1' Scale - Joel White version
Today,  after applying varnish to the Buzzards Bay 14, I concentrated on getting the rear deck beams installed and apply teak to the rear cockpit bulkhead. I started by laying out the access hole in the Bulkhead and then applied teak strips. While that was drying, I laid out the supports for the rear deck beams and installed them. I then installed the beams. I then trimmed the teak off the bulkhead and sanded it to 320 grit sandpaper. the bulkheads and center board box are dry fit. Here are the results

Thank's Piet, Very interesting, if you want to stop your Sailboat you put the Bow into the wind ( in Irons ) Did you fly as a commercial Pilot? All the flying I have done was as a passenger. I would rather be Sailing

    Hi everyones!
I had a break in the shipbuilding for more than 3 months. Now, before I go back to my current projects, I decided to do another short mini-project for restoring of my skills.

So, I begin as usual with building of the hull.

Rough shaping done.... I went back to vinyl for this one because I want to see if I can get the same details using the new scalpel tools.

Just making a final check of the scale before I spend hours on this piece and decide the scale was not right.  Been there, done that.... lol

Think I'll spare you folks all the step-by-step on this one.....like watching grass grow, right?

Pretty day for golf tomorrow.... then poker club night.
Looks like a short day in the ship yard.

    Hi David and Patrick,
and all the many "likes" recently, for appreciations and kind comments.....

    David,
unfortunately I have no experience with resistance welding.......
For clean soldering results I prefer gas torch welding as far as accessibility allows, the possibility for controlling the heat flow, the moment the solder melts and creeps into the foreseen place allows quite accurate work. Alternatively I use the good old electric soldering iron

    Patrick,

    Hi Pete

I agree with everyone. She's looking great, but I reckon one thing's missing. Can you guess what it is?

The trailer! Somehow, I can't get the image of the boat on the trailer ready for transport to the water, out of my mind. I think you posted it in an earlier post. Hint. Hint?

    What's life without another challenge?
