Hi Dimitris
Very nice. If I close my eyes, I can easily imagine myself walking along the stern walkway whilst admiring the ship's wake.
I look forward to what you next have in store to show us.
Cheers and all the best!

Hello shipmates, Lawrence-Brian-Nigel-Mike-Patrick-David-Nigel, I do thank you, for all the likes and comments. The first thing i did ...Fixed my lamp... lol
So.. an update regarding the stanchions and hand rails on the stern deck, I cut the handrails as instructions point, this is the point that the big lifeboat hangs out. After cutting them off, applied one coat of primer and then i painted them white with a brush. Also i have ordered last week the 152 portholes from rb models ...and waiting!
Kind Regards
Dimitris

Omega1234 reacted to GConiglio in INGOMAR 1904 by GConiglio - 1:38 scale - Gloucester fishing schooner
I think cabin trunk is better now (not completed).
I wonder if it's better to paint front -rear and side panels white and leave the roof as it is.
What do you think?

Omega1234 reacted to kruginmi in HMS Druid by kruginmi - 1:48 - cross-section - Hahn
So after finally settling down on understanding the number and type of lines, I can move into the job of estimating what type of work I have in front of me with regards to blocks. Currently I am showing 132 blocks are needed for this cross section (wow). For the basic type (single and double) there are:
So you can see the actual ship had 12 varieties of these from 5" to 20". For the model on a first pass I am looking at cutting this down to 8 types from 1/8" to 3/8". So, for example, the 5, 6 and 7 inch single blocks are combined to the 1/8" scale block. The question now is whether or not I should combine more, to like three of each type. Feedback welcome.
For the rest of the blocks, the numbers are much smaller (besides the dead eyes):
There are one offs that I can think about actually making without going a little crazy. Still need to go over the blocks again and am sure to add more - the biggest mistake I keep making is to double shown quantities to account for port and starboard.
Really enjoying the process, hope to start building again soon!

Thank you David,
your comment is very much appreciated.., I`m also quite happy with the Project so far. Presume that doing the superstructure will be far more ambitious...

Omega1234 reacted to JesseLee in Rouse Simmons by JesseLee - FINISHED - BOTTLE
I did some experimenting with this build. Some didn't work out. Wanted to keep things as light as possible. Tried making the sea out of silicone. It shaped great & looked very much like a slightly choppy sea surface. Painted it & it looked very well. It could roll up to be put in the ornament & open back up flat inside for putting down. The problem is nothing will stick to dried silicone. the paint eventually starts peeling & flaking off in spots. It really disappointed me because it had looked so good & it was so light. I hope I can find a way for this to work in the future. It formed the perfect looking wave caps. I had tried not painting it but having the blue paint just underneath it. That didn't look quite right so that's why I tried painting the sicone surface itself.

Hi Jesse,
Been enjoying your build...really challenging with such a fragile glass bulb.
On the sea...just a thought but would a thin layer of Scuply perhaps work so it isn't too heavy? Comes in many colors and could be painted as well. Could be textured to make some waves and lightly rolled to get it in before opening it out. Some white paint once it is in may allow some white caps as well.
Just a thought.....good luck!
Cheers,
Nigel.

Hi Jesse
Yikes! Thin glass must be an OHS nightmare for you. Gloves must be close at hand for you, I'm sure.
Good luck!
