With this, the klinker is ready.
I didn't show the whole railing, which is ready since months, I will show the making of the railing later on, when it will be installed in place.

Making klinker on the hull...
For this, I needed to cut different widths of the klinker planking and on some areas - continuously narrow them. So I have the same number of planks at the beginning and the end of one section of the hull. (The part of the hull which I needed to plank with the klinker is higher at the stern.)

My protection for the hull - same level as the waterline. One can imagine how the ship looks in the water.
This protective parts can be disassembled easily if needed.

Here is the ship with painted area below waterline and I did later some construction to protect the painted hill from unintended touching with tools I am working with.

Towers are ready. The windows are missing and some details. This will be done later.
The sharp edges where the klinker are connected are not very exact, but I didn't care since the sculptures are going to cover this areas.
The whole system is like LEGO - it can be disassembled in order to paint the parts later separately. Also the other parts on the side galleries can be removed. This will be shown later.

I continue with the towers on the side galleries... I glued small parts with epoxy and gave it the final form.

Hey Denis
What better way to get the old creative juices flowing, than starting a new ship! Good on ya for not giving in to the 'couch potato' syndrome.
If your previous ships are any indication, you're gonna ace this one. I can just imagine the magic that you're going to add to the basic kit stuff, which, will eventually turn into another little masterpiece.
I'm in!
Cheers

Hi Doris
I’m very late to the party, but, Oh...My...Lord...I’m speechless!!!!
You, Doris, are not only a modeller, but you’re an artist and a magician, all rolled into one.
Simply amazing.
Cheers.

Hi folks! I hope you’re all well. Pls allow me to show you the latest update of my scratch-built miniature model, Splendid (1:500). During the past few weeks, I’ve spent more time building the individual cabin walls and bulkheads for the internal accommodation across Splendid’s five decks as well as more preliminary work on her two decked engine room.
More work’s still required, of course, but…she’s getting there, folks; she’s getting there…!
Have a great week.
Cheers

Hi folks!
I haven’t been able to do much on Splendid lately as I’ve had some ruddy kidney stones removed. All good now, so far (fingers crossed).
Anyhow, here’s the latest. I’ve cut out all of Splendid’s five decks and started to add the cabin walls, etc. There’s still a long way to go, but some progress is better than no progress at all, I guess.
Cheers
