Omega1234 got a reaction from Piet in SHADOW by Omega1234 - FINISHED - Scale 1/300 - Luxury 60m Mega Yacht
Hi Denis
Many thanks. I'm really enjoying building this model - complex, yet rewarding!
Hope you're well and enjoying the snow.
Cheers

Hi Nils
Greg and everyone's absolutely correct. You're doing one hell of a beautiful job, Nils.
I seriously don't know how you could do any better.
Cheers

I have to wait until the last night for the Lobster??? Oh well....The longer the wait, the more worthwhile it'll be!

Hi Nils
Really, really seriously nice!
When you get a chance, can you pls check with the purser to see if my veranda cabin has been booked. I think I also ordered the lobster for dinner. No hurry, though; just whenever you're free to do so!😀
Cheers

Hi Nils
Once again, I'm totally blown away with what you've been able to achieve. The work is so finely detailed, yet perfectly in-scale. Just amazing!
What's even more surprising is the photo with your giant fingers in the way. Just that photo alone, emphasises how small the individual parts are.
Amazing!
Cheers

Hey Nils
Ok. I'm sitting here wondering...Mmmm, is there ANYTHING that Nils can't do?????
The simple answer seems to be a resounding NO!!!
Top job, Nils.

Hi Denis
Many thanks! I'm also glad that the 'movers' have moved in. I was getting a bit twitchy about having to spend so much time on the hull and superstructure (both of which still need a lot of work), but, at least I've been able to start on the really fun bit, ie the furniture and accommodation.
Have a great weekend!
Cheers

is it self sticking? super job with it.......came out really well so, you did along the bulwarks first, and went from the keel up......is that how I'm reading the layering?

Thanks for the "fix". After almost a week with no updates I was getting anxious. Great detail work.

Hi Folks!
Just a very quick update for you all. I've added a bit more detail to the Main Saloon; namely the side cabinets and two small single armchairs that are situated at the rear of the saloon. And...just to add a bit of life to the scene, I've deliberately placed the dining table chairs in a haphazard fashion, just to give the impression of the guests leaving the table in a hurry. Maybe it was something they ate???
Also,if you look closely enough, in one of the photos you'll notice that I've added the individual placemats on the saloon table.
They're admittedly hard to see because they're so tiny, but trust me, they're there!
Cheers

Thanks Jon: The vinyl used here is taken from vinyl lattice strips used for fencing. I've used it for years and never experienced any yellowing.

Do be careful when using the styrene. I've been told they yellow as they age so it's best to paint them.

Quarter Galleries....
Still focusing on the stern development, I set aside the transom work for now because I realize the blending of the Quarter Galleries is crucial, and I have been struggling with how I will approach the slanted windows.
Third (or fourth) attempt, here's where I landed....
Used transparency film for the glass, and very fine cut strips of white vinyl to represent the window framing....... I just finished one window and snapped this quick shot in order to examine this method closely before continuing further.

Hey Bob
Just catching up .....Woweee, she looks fantastic, what with rivets and plating, etc, etc. Almost too good to paint, in fact (although, paint you must, of course).
Mighty fine work.

Ah, Lawrence, I wish I could take credit for the plating but I am only doing what I see Nils doing oh his "SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse".

Thanks Nils, Yves and Keith,
I referred to the aluminum as foil. Really it is an Aluminum tape used to tape the duct work in heating systems. Sorry about that.
