No Sjors, it isn't the picture, it is the size of the wheelhouse indeed. Here a picture of the wheelhouse and 3rd deck placed on the ship. If you look well, you can see the wheelhouse has a raised floor. Nevertheless, as you said, have to place questionmarks about the proportions Artisania (or is it Art Insania?) used for each deck.

When the stacks and masts are in place I think it will not be that obvious.

The proportions for the decks of the AL Mississippi are correct.

I've had that question before on a Dutch forum and scaled from 1:80 to 1:1

- enginedeck and horse stay: height = 3.35 m

- both passengerdecks:                        2.40 m

- wheelhouse                                        3,65 m 

 

The wheel is so big that it is partial sunk in the floor of the wheelhouse - as on the old Mississippe sternwheelers.

Great progress with the build. As a new MSW member I have very recently started the OcCre version.  Spirit of Mississippi so it will be really great following your build as I do mine several stages back.

I have just finished planking the deck and hull and my next steps are starting the cabins on the lower deck.

It will be very interesting to see the differences in the kits.

I will start my build log hopefully tomorrow when I get a chance

Have finished the decorative border on the roof of the third deck state-room. My first attempt did not succeed and as a consequence I had to remove the glue from the borders, so had to repaint them. The 3rd deck and wheelhouse are now added to the hull. A stroke of walnut veneer closed the gap between the second deck state-room ventilation windows and the 3rd deck.

Next will be building the stairs which will be time consuming due to the poor and unsteady quality of the precut stairs.

Thanks Adrieke, but your built is only delayed by the extra's you are doing. Luckily this is not a speed competition, since I am not sure whether I really are steaming in front of you since you have alreay prepared parts where I have not even looked at. Only thing which counts is that we both are enjoying this built (ok, to be more precise MOST of the time   )

Completed the stairs to the wheelhouse. Beware, none of the precut sides of the stairs are equal, the holes for the steps differs from position, so you have to select a left and right side which match closest, otherwise you end up with visibly crooked steps. Now I have to create 4 small stairs for the cabins and terras to the 3rd deck and three long ones to connect the 3rd with the 2nd deck.
