The ultimate arbiter of "did right" or "did wrong" is the look of the finished product. So far, your model looks very good, especially for a first wooden ship, so I'd say that you have done mostly quite right. Keep up the good work!

Good day ,

Dear Tomasz,

Your model looks very nice... however  I would reccomend to read this GREAT book written world famous author(in ship model making and history receach) which will help You a lot!

https://cloud.mail.ru/public/JU7C/bVhk9VrXn

There You will find description od every rigging line You will need to arrange on Your galleon model ...

Thank you so much for link i will check it. I've searched so many builds and they looks so different i am so confused now. Also looking at the real replica of this ship but it looks so different to plans provided by occre 😕

 Tomasz,

By my opinion, there are a few ways to make rigging:

*to build exactly as suggested in your kit

*to build as existing relica

*to build as suggested in the books Andrson and Mondfeld- regarding proper rigging arrangements but maybe not exactly as your model kit suggested

*to build as Mayflower II rigging

*to build as Aker siggested| developed by eugen.t in his reconstruction

to avoid repeating all the same information  again

please check recently posted drawings in nearby treads of GH and Mayflower buildings as we discussed  rigging variants just a few days ago...

from my point of vew there is most interesting rigging plan for GH made by eugen.t based on Aker reconstruction...

I think it will not be wrong if You make it the same lenght as top mast height

Good day,

Your kevels Looks nice , much better than original ! :)

however acording to R.C.Anderson this is Dutch type of kevel, english type should be more "round" shape such as shape of the kit's kevels...

Good day,

Tomasz,

Steering wheel!!!???😁 on 16 th centure galleon ???

looks very strange...

I think may be better discard this replica details as quidance and better follow information from Anderson book?

I know there are two GH replicas exist ...

one is just tourist atraction and another one much more hystoric accurste... posted foto of which one ?

Is this foto of this replica?

If Yes , I don't know why they choose this type of kevels

Yes steering wheel make me laugh 😅 as well but they did that to make their life easier i think when they sail this ship some time ago. Definitely my next ship build i will better follow the book. Thanks 😊

But one moment ,

There is another buitiful reconstruction of elizabethian galleon by Peter Kirsch, and He used the same type of kevel as You did...

so probably You did acceptable choise !:)))

Those type of kevel which Anderson refers as english type, we could see on the contemporary english models 17- 18 cenrures

I know Mayflower II replica had steering gear wheel which was arranged in purpose for transatlantic voyage , they also arranged foot ropes for convinience working with sails, but it was artifucial additions which couldn't be seen on the vessel in 16-17 centures

Good day Tomasz,

foot ropes -Why did You make them / is it in the kit's manual?

Actually ,during galleon era and well

till the end of the 17th centure foot ropes were not known ...and not used...

as example ,one of the Willem van de Velde drawing - no foot ropes...

but this is already mid of the 17th century...
