I recently retired and would like to try my hand on a plastic model, I have only built in plastic. Wood seems like a big jump at first with a lot of investment in tools. When I was growing up there was a beautiful schooner in the river that I would watch named "Hearts Desire". Look forward to finding one and learning on this site how to build it. As for tool... not much is needed for kits... here's a link to our database and scroll down the Tools section. There's a topic on basic tools. While not mentioned in that article, start a log when you find the model as it's the best tool of all to get help and meet other builders. Built plastic models off and on most of my life (61 now), and as I get older I find my interests are actually broadening, in regards to subject.
