Patrick Matthews Posted March 14, 2022 #1 Posted March 14, 2022 (edited) I'm well along in building my 1:8 (yes, 1:8) scale DUKW. I'd dearly love to have a cargo net for it's load. I'm guessing these things are about 8 or maybe 10 foot square with 4 foot long corner eyes, and about 18 runs of small rope spliced to a larger perimeter rope... perhaps 1.5 and 3.0 mm respectively in scale. OK fine, I can make or purchase the scale rope. But some 88 splices in scale??!? I don't relish that idea. Any alternate ideas? popeye2sea Posted March 15, 2022 #2 Posted March 15, 2022 Well, the good news is that they are not really spliced. The cross rope is just tucked under one strand and passes straight through. Push it through each vertical line (use a pattern under it on a flat surface or hang it and tape your vertical ropes to it. allanyed Posted March 15, 2022 #5 Posted March 15, 2022 At 1:8 scale you should have no problem doing the splicing although it will take a lot of time.
