Rattlesnake 1782 by Gregory - Scale 1:48 - Plans from ModelShipways & NMM

Thanks Craig.  Your lines will help me refine things.  I straightened out heavier curve of the upper side panels.  They seem out of place place to me.

I think you are right about the columns.  I should have something showing that on the next rendition.

Looking at Chuck's latest Speedwell developments, I think I see parallelograms there..

That's good enough for me.

For me, I think a tighter radius works. I also think it would look better if the spacing between the columns and adjacent panels was evened out but that's probably just me.

Thanks for that drawing.   It's really close to what I have in mind.

There is a picture of this area on the St. Albans on page 163 of The Master Shipwrights's Secrets by Richard Endsor.  His information source is noted at the bottom left.  Sorry the overall pic is askew.  I rotated it in my drawing program so the cross sections are correct and show a vertical centerline for reference.

I think he's asking you. Hope you don't mind, here's some enlargements:

I had been thinking that it needed a sill under the doors otherwise the inboard ones wouldn't open properly.

St Albans (1687) probably.

It took me a while to determine that the drawings you posted are of St. Albans, 1687, a 50 gun fourth rate.

Interesting drawings but doesn't seem to have much in common with Rattlesnake.  I appreciate the effort.

Yes.  I was planning on including a sill of some sort. Flush with the deck didn't seem right.

Thank you very much Gregory.   Thought it was interesting that it seemed to confirm the trapezoid shape more than 100 years earlier.
