Nice work on your Endurance. Within the next week or so I'll be posting my progress on hull planking . . . so far, only 5 planks on each side.  And as you'll see, my approach is to not worry about uneven planks, cracks, holes and gaps for now, and let filler, sanding and painting hide all the flaws.  The precision in your first layer could be stained and otherwise unfinished.  Great work!

Thank you but I think that the drum is too big and I used rigging blocks (wood) from the box also too big. Brass pulley is a better choice but at the end the cost increase !

Have a nice day

I am debating at the moment if i should either buy the metal blocks for the steering chains, or attempt to scratchbuild them- as to the wooden drum - still looks better than what occre instructs.

Keith,

Brass block is more realistic and may it is possible to get at the good scale.(https://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/CAP-Rigging-Blocks.html). You will need also  chain in black

For your information, just before the endurance came in the weddell sea the steering gear was visible ( not protected). See picture.

Very well done François.  I'll be referring to your log frequently in the many months ahead as I slowly make progress on my build.  Thanks for showing the way.

Beautiful job. How did you do the ratlines with wire? They came out very nice. Any tips?

Bill

for the ratlines I used brass wire (diameter 0,5mm) after blackening

Have a nice day
