Log #6: first planks

The first three planks on each side have been placed.

I’m trying to slowly get the bow ends to curve upwards to achieve a more natural bend, then I can start reducing the edge bending and tapering.

I used Chucks edge bending method using the iron, works perfectly.

That looks like good progress.
I'm intrigued by your edge bending tool, haven't seen one of those before.

It’s just an angle bracket cut in half with a slightly curved side, just need something the same thickness as the planks. If that’s what you’re talking about.

Isaiah, I sent you to a question log that should evolve into something that explains the blocks on the Sherbourne.

Oh yes I will look at that, thank you.

Log #8: finishing and sanding first layer planks

Here is the first layer planking completed. Much better result than my perseverance with little sanding and filling required.

Log #10: Completing the first band

The first of three bands is done. I’m really happy with the result so far.

The wood strips are not even comparable to the ones from the Perseverance, makes it so much more enjoyable.

Since the hull will be painted I will just use stealers for the stern.
