Greetings all, and thank you to the moderators for approval, I’m very happy to come aboard. I’m a career-long professional model maker, and lifetime hobbyist. My career spans many genres with the majority being architectural and product modeling, and custom model railroads for discerning clientele. My hobbies are just as varied, from aircraft to armor to, of course, model railroading. That said, I have always loved the sea, and sailing in particular. Memories of sailing with my dad are among my most cherished; his lifelong dream was to own his own sailboat and when he achieved that dream we spent 10 happy years afloat. He also introduced me to Patrick O’Brian and of course, all of this informs my desire to get to some ship modeling in my imminent retirement. While I am not afraid of any techniques or materials, it’s not a race for me, and I shall start simple and move forward from there. I look forward to the incredible collective wisdom shared here, and thank you for your welcome and your time.
